Description

CONTEST: Draw your Favorite Game/Anime/Original Character as other characters or ZOMBIES!

Deadline: October 31, 2011 (CLOSED)[/color]

Theme: What makes cosplaying as gruesome Amnesia monsters or putting on legit Batman underwear and mask and going out into public fun? The fact you can instill both fear and disturbing comments like, "Dude, you need to get a life" of course! [/b]

Draw anyone! -Your favorite anime characters, game characters, your aunt Maria, or original characters, and put them in Pokemon, superhero, fat suits, zombie costumes- you name it! Just make sure to get a real laugh/scare while drawing it.

Rules:
1. Only 1 submission per user
2. When October 31, 2011 12:00 AM passes, submissions are closed for the contest. I do not take late work, no matter how good you are. :)
3. No overly explicit material allowed. Come on, we do not want to put porn on the main site!

Scoring Guidelines:

Originality: 40 points

- Do not just put a costume on a person and make him/her stand there. There has to be something scary/hilarious/special about the costume/person that makes people say, "I would have never thought of that!" Make it really express the true spirit of Halloween!

Skill: 30 points

- You can use crafts, digital mediums, traditional mediums(etc.) to express this theme, but you need skill to make it look good! Whatever style you work with, whether anime or realism, make it synchronize with your idea, and your skill will inevitably show.

Background: 20 points

- That is right. For those of you want decent points for this category and stink at making acceptable backgrounds- you better start practicing. What type of Halloween is without the eerie Halloween atmosphere (ex: cemeteries, pumpkins, slime...etc)? The character may be the center, but the background is what really sets up the Halloween atmosphere!

Colors: 10 points

- Color can bring out fire in the eyes of angry zombies, faces of moonlit werewolves, and teeth of hungry vampires. This is not only to help make your picture more appealing, but also to help stray from simple flat colors. However, this category is incredibly wavered because extremely black and white schemes can definitively go with the current theme.

Thus, the points were too close for comfort. Literally, the winner won by .3 points. If you look at the median of points, people were beating each other by .4, .6, and sometimes .2. Thus, you are all equally fabulous artists! I hope everyone had a fearful/toothached Halloween! See you next contest!

Other artists have also had this problem. It is alright. If you cannot get that picture in on time, I will link an imageshack link to it.

Do you get an error message? Is so, copy and paste it down for me. Print screen any form of evidence of this problem to me.

Here is what I want you to do. Submit any picture that will work. And I mean ANY picture that will submit. You have other pictures in your gallery, so it looks like you have had success in your submitting at one point. Submit an old picture if you have to. When the picture gets approved, go to "Edit" at the picture page, and replace the picture with your Halloween picture. This is a bypass. Tell me how that goes.

Have you tried submitting in different categories or changing your image type (jpeg,png...etc)?

I feel in my heart FAC already has a good population, but people should always be cleverly/made sure to exploit themselves correctly. What better way to do it then to incentive their art out? Some baby artists do not know what they are missing if they just get out in this website more. They need to join the forum talks (we have them! xD), comment others art (even if it takes 10 seconds), draw always, and encourage themselves always. I feel they have so much more potential in this art site, so I know what you mean about the traffic thing. It seems like you are a senior member who has influenced this site nevertheless! I am grateful for your maturity.

...This is weird. So the picture just "reloads" when you submit an unresized/unedited picture. What format is yoru picture in (jpeg, png, etc), what type of computer are you using?

I don't know how to resize it using FAC, I use paint.net to resize my pictures. I use my laptop 99.9% of the time.

You can totally just resize it quickly with Imageshack if you want! I have to scroll around a lot to see the whole picture, and it will probably be hard to see for the rest of the FAC members too. Are you having trouble with resizing like some other people? Somehow...some people are not able to submit pictures if they are edited into the FAC database. WHICH I WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF DANG IT!

Thanks a lot! I did most of this with SAI (since their clean lines are easy to make quick pictures with), and then I did the highlighted doge and burn to bring out the shadows. That is usually the trademark for my pictures. Lots of shines. HAHAH

-BUT. This is coming from you?! Realism goddess with the thinnest finest lines ever?! Have you thought of spreading your artistic horizons and putting some of that realism talent into drawing a vampire/werewolve for this contest here? You will not regret the artistic experience! HOHA!

Hey! If you finished a part of your Halloween picture already, you are already more well on your way to finishing the picture on time than others!

Now, I actually assign points to every picture after all entries are in. Points are given relative/compared to other pieces because how would you know the really good and really bad if you do not have all the entries? Thus, I cannot make an accurate point statistic for your picture, but I can tell you ranges.

Since there is not decent background just yet (flat color with only small gradient in between), you would most likely get around 1-3 points for Background. Because coloring and shading is evident on the head and even eyes 4-5.5 (the more characters you have in there without making it look awkward, the more points you will get). Creativity would be around 9-13. Skill would be around 5-12.

Thus, your score range for just that picture would be a 19-33.5. ;) Once you have a sort-of finalized product, I cannot give anymore point estimates to make sure it is fair for the rest of the contestants!

You still have 14 days left to submit! That is about 2 weeks- enough time to make crazy/creepy Halloween mega-man worlds and freak fire walls and....a zombie Zero! Or something cool like that! (it would be really weird if you were thinking of drawing exactly that)

When I have an idea but cannot envision it well, I take out some scratch paper and just experiment-draw perspectives and people with the idea. Putting things on paper is much more productive than just trying to think/visualize it in your head! That is a loner's job home diggity!

Thank-you! I rushed a great deal on this picture because of school classes (I have midterms and smaller exams soon >:U No one will bother me!). When the Christmas contest comes, I am going to have ask one of the other FAC staff to host that one because I do not have time! I was also talking to some staff about possibly putting a special emblem on the winning contest picture (like the featured star), but I am not sure if it will get approved. We will have to see.

You could dress these normally light-peaceful looking OCs into darker, more depressed versions and put them all together in a nice evil scenery. OhhhhhOoHOOooooooooo~ the more characters you can put in there without it looking awkward, the higher points you get for skill/points in general! Having too many characters may just be an advantage!

I was going to submit this picture and officially start the contest on October 12, 2011, but the details/coloring took a lot longer than I expected (along with my random getting distracted all the time. MUST STOP THAT DISTRACTEDNESS OR I WILL ACADEMICALLY RAPE MYSELF ONE DAY).
