Chapter 1 - The Theory
The Theory
Below the embers where I lie
Into an unknown abyss of life
A journey which to take its course would spark the fear before the flame
As I stand before the grave
Three steps I took the time to save
Three steps I took to find the slumber kept within the earth's confines
I looked beyond the rim of dawn
And saw a shadow rise upon
Rise upon the waking space that's come to be the only vice
She approached the tomb at which I knelt
And I saw at once what I'd been dealt
I understood just how she felt but shed no tear of vacancy
By then my pallor rivaled white
And past the girl glowed blinding light
Nothing can surpass the cruelty of the way I saw her fall
I turned to take my final breath
That I had savored for sweet death
And recalled for her no time of life that had been at its best
Of late that's what I then believed
But now it seems so clear to me
Spend all of life to warrant for the purity we can't retrieve
