Chapter 1 - Soldier's Last Wish
If I should die
Promise me you'll wake
Promise me you'll live
And happiness never fake.
If I die, don't die too
Promise me you'll be alright
And only smile
Never cry at night.
Live because I love you
Because you have to go on
Don't let death take over
And don't become its pawn.
Laughter is the greatest cure
I really believe that that's true
So laugh a bunch for me
Please, won't you?
Living for a dream
And living on a prayer
Those were the days
When we didn't have to care.
But that's gone now
Flown into the past
It's funny now that I think of it
I never thought it'd go that fast.
I don't want to scare you
And fill your head with bad dreams
I don't want you to wake up
To the sound of your own screams.
But if I die
Promise me you'll be alright
Promise me you'll live
And make it through another night.
I can't make any guarantee
But know how much I love you
That I'd never leave you
But now I have things that I have to do.
I'll be thinking of you
With every single step that I take
You'll be in my heart and mind
Every single hour - sleep or wake.
I love you enough to let you live
And I love you enough to wait
But now our lives
Are in the hands of Fate.
I'm sorry if I ever hurt you
Don't cry anymore, please
You know I'd do anything for you
Even crawl across the desert on my knees.
If you're reading this right now
You'll know that I'm dead
And if that's the case
Just remember the things that I said:
Stand against the pain
That burns inside your soul
No one knows tomorrow
Because destiny is out of our control.
Keep believing in tomorrow
One day we'll meet again
Don't lose your faith
Don't go mad with the pain.
I know that you can do it
Make it to another day
Laugh just one more time
Because tomorrow isn't that far away.
Keep that smile on your face
And that twinkle in your eye
Know I'll always be with you
And that I loved you enough to die.
