Barely Human



Crimson sunlight pierced thin glass,

Casting grey shadows against ivory walls.

Feeling the unbearable burn,

I quickly shut my eyes.

A new day has come,

And all I feel is sorrow.

My world slowly fades away,

My real life,

The life in my dreams,

Where I see you…

Content…happy…

Always by my side.

You cared about me,

And I loved you in return.

When I felt like dieing,

When I failed to see,

You caught me,

And taught me how to fly.

You taught me to speak,

When my mouth was sewn shut.

You taught me to love,

When my heart turned to stone.

Now I wake,

This fateful morning,

Sorrow heavy in my heart

And building with every passing second.

Day by day I live this life.

Day by day I feel this sorrow.

I follow a rythmless routine,

Trapped within this graceless body,

The one I've grown to despise.

I see nothing of me in these movements,

Cannot hear my soul within this voice,

For these are two separate things,

My body and my soul.

What you see is not me,

This is not my nature.

And I long for the day when you see me.

The day I can tell you who I am.

The day I can teach myself soar,

Above my pain,

Above my lose,

Above my oun crushed spirit,

To find a place of acceptance,

Of contentment,

Of light…
