Seeing Red



You said you read me like a book,

But that was then as they say…

With you I saw beauty,

Took pride in your presence.

You followed me like a shadow,

Tracing my steps from day to day.

When I slept I saw you,

Your gentle eyes watching over me.

You saved me from myself,

Told me never to give in.

You turned me toward the right path,

The one that always led back to you.

I never went a day without you,

Never let you off my mind.

You were my best friend…

You were my family…

I loved you.

I gave you my heart.

But these things are unexpected,

You just never know where life may take you.

But I never thought I would be here alone…

Never thought this could happen…

Ever…

Not to me…

Now when I think of you, I see red,

I cringe when I hear your footsteps,

Feel myself slowly dieing from within.

And you don't even know,

The prison cell I live in,

How if I could break down the bars, I could show you.

But no.

You leave me here,

I this dark, dangerous room…

Sometimes I wonder if you think of me…

If you ever even loved me…

Now I wonder…

Now that it's too late…

It's sad, but I still love you,

Still think about you day by day,

But now, every time I think about you…

I can only see red…
