Chapter 1 - Loneliness

Loneliness
Lost in shadows;
Spawned from within.
Drowned in a darkness;
All-consuming,
Never ending.
And out of the darkness comes lies.
Acting and lying;
Always on guard.
Fearful of the inevitable trip,
The fall,
That will shatter the old and battered shield
And reveal reality.
A twisted conscience-like voice
Whispers and warns
Of the danger and hurt
That comes from reaching out.
Friends,
Who want to help
Yet know nothing but the lies,
Are truly blind,
Deaf to the screams for help
Until it is too late to.
And so the shadows grow
And the darkness darkens.
