Chapter 1 - Promsie of Hope

As rain pours down a
Vacant and bare boulevard,
Everyone feels dull and dejected,
A single girl&
Her smile&
So astounding and passionate&
But yet&
Each and everyone looks right though her transparent body
As they pass&
Rejecting the small girl
A little black girl&
So vulnerable&
So weak&
Locked ina white mans world
No one returns her smile&
Not a single hello&
Not even a glimpse&
A crushing pain penetrating her chest&
A hasty entrepreneur
Behind schedule by the torrent and traffic&
Knocks the girl into a sea of muck
Her eyes beginning to swell&
Someone pauses&
Stops right in their tracks&
Accepts the youngster&
Lifts her weightless body from the concreate floor&
She asks for his name&
He doesnt reply&
Just says its not important
A gap tooth smile spreads across her dark features
The young man who took his limited time to help that girl&
Disappears into the pace of the citys heart.
As the little girl dusts herself off
She couldnt help but find some hope in her world.
The sun peaks out from the dark and foggy overcast
A rainbow materializes overhead as the rain trickles to a stop.
A rainbow of promise and hope.
A promise of freedom.
