Chapter 4 - The Sweet, Yet Depressing Night

"Too bad we couldn't make you well... alive." the soft voice of Yuugi
sounded as he flipped the pages of a manga book.

Yami, who looked slightly like the tri-coloured haired boy, nodded slowly
and turned to see Yuugi looking down sadly. He sighed and looked down,
walking over to Yuugi and placing a hand on Yuugi's cheek. Yuugi could feel
the touch, but only slightly. Since Yami was only well... a spirit, the
couple, yes, couple, couldn't really do anything with each other. Yuugi
glanced up at Yami and smiled fakely.

"Oh, Yuugi..." Yami whispered as he kissed Yuugi's cheek.

"If only that was real..." Yuugi whispered back as a silent tear rolled down
the boy's cheek as Yami slowly wiped it away.

"Remember what I promised you?" Yami asked sweetly, touching Yuugi's hand
softly, even though it was only spirit-wise.

"How..." Yuugi paused for a moment and sighed and looked straight at his
yami, "How could I ever forget?" he smiled, feeling a bit better. Yami
smiled back, knowing this smile was real and not another fake one.

There was a long pause and finally, Yuugi got up. Yami looked at him and
watched him climb into bed. He smiled and sat on the edge of the bed. Yami
saw Yuugi yawn and pull the covers over him. Yami grinned and leaned in to
kiss Yuugi goodnight.

"'Night, my love." He whispered as he tapped Yuugi's puzzle and went inside.

"'Night," Yuugi said and watched sadly as Yami went back into the puzzle.
He sighed, "I'll somehow make you real, Yami..." He whispered as he took the
puzzle slowly off and laid it next to him. He climbed under the covers more
and drifted into sleep, the last thing he set his eyes on were his puzzle.
