Chapter 2 - He Walks Alone in Darkness
Submitted March 8, 2006 Updated September 1, 2006 Status Incomplete | These are a series of songs I wrote for a graphic novel I am working on called SOCOM 2035. ***Tears*** reminded me of these songs, as the poem appears in one of the books. Please feel free to comment in any way, shape, or form, but please keep any flames to a minimum. Here's some background on the story, just so the songs make sense: Lieutenant Jason Wolfe: Commander of SEAL Team 7, 2nd Platoon (AKA the Wolfe Pack) Petty Officer Stephanie Edgars: A medic on Wolfe's team Here's a little detail on how their relationship unfolded: Volume 2: Wolfe stops an enemy general from raping Edgars Volume 3: Wolfe says "Angels really do exist" after he barely (emphasis on barely) survives a double-dose of a lethal poison Volume 7: Wolfe blocks an attack meant for Edgars and kills his attacker, but ultimately dies from his opponent's attack Volume 8: Edgars mourns Wolfe's passing (some strong emotions expressed there) Volume 9: Out of grief, Edgars tries to kill herself, but is stopped by a resurrected Wolfe Volume 13: Wolfe sends Edgars to Annapolis, but she returns two years later after thinking he was dead. The two mate and Edgars loses her human ears (they're replaced by wolf ears)

He walks alone in darkness
his soul empty and cold
gone's the fire in his heart
that once burned brave and bold
So this is how it ends today
so much is left unsaid
he spoke these words into her ears
cause he knew he'd soon be dead
When he looks back on that day
he remembers how she cried
when he told her that he loved her
just before he died
He walks alone in darkness
his soul shattered and lost
when he moved to protect her
he knew what it would cost
He ran his hand on down her cheek
and chased away her fears
she held him tight until the end
her eyes still filled with tears
Every time she heard his name
his voice is all she hears
she lost the man she loved that day
she can't stop the tears
He walks alone in darkness
his soul is on the mend
because he gave his life for hers
the rules of death he'll bend
She calls his name when she wakes up
frightened and alone
she thinks that he will come for her
that he will soon be home
When she sees there's no-one there
all she can do is cry
when she remembers that he is gone
all she wants to do is die
He walks alone in darkness
his arms around her now
He knows that he loves her
he has to tell her how
As he looks into her eyes
her voice he hears tonight
Why'd you have to die for me
I did what was right
He walks alone in darkness
his lover in his arms
as long as I am with you
I'll keep you safe from harm
A soldier's love and sacrifice
helped save her life that day
So she could see tomorrow
he gave his life away
Even in the darkest night
his soul just will not rest
everyday will challenge him
his love they'll always test
They walk alone in darkness
her eyes are full of fear
a gentle kiss from his lips
helps hold back her tears
