Chapter 1 - Pain

Floating in the darkness
I am alone,
Save the lost souls
And tormented spirits
That swim around me,
Crying out for help.
I try to reach out
And comfort them,
But I cannot.
I am restricted
By my own fears;
By my own pain.
I look on as
They scream in pain;
My heart tears in two
As I begin to recognize
These hapless souls.
They are the souls
Of those I care about
Swirling around me
In a torrential hurricane
Of pain, suffering,
And misfortune.
My soul cries out to them,
I want to join them,
But I am condemned
To forever be imprisoned
In this corporeal vessel.
I know I will never
Be free of pain:
I only want to lessen it;
To fly among the dead.
