Chapter 1 - Unsaid

Awakened at last
The distant past,
Not so distant it seems,
Though left behind,
Still burned in my mind:
The face that had once filled my dreams.
A sudden thought,
It's best I ought
To write that which I think.
That morning I wrote
A declaritive note,
My secrets transforming to ink.
Great or small,
Feelings all
Were subsequently spilled.
My hollow heart,
A matter apart,
A blank note freshy filled.
Things unsaid
The note unread
Still lying in the drawer,
Severely missed,
I clench my fists
As I watch her walk out the door.
The ties that bind,
I think you'll find,
Are sooner cut than kept.
I remember too well
The day my heart fell,
I smiled but silently wept.
This loss of mine,
Though healed in time,
Was never fully cured
And I cannot explain
This dreadful pain
Which for so very long I endured.
Time passes still
And continues until
My body has reached it's end.
Though I loved her so,
She'll never know;
She'll remember only a friend.
As my body grows colder,
I wish I had told her
All of the thoughts in my head.
And now, I fear,
She'll never hear
The words that went unsaid.
