To answer you question on “the test for the shawl” I think you may have the shawl test mixed up with the ring test. Two slightly different things. :)
While the test for the ring is mention in several different books in the series, the test for the shawl is only in New Spring. There is only one ring, not three and a representative from each ajah is present.
I’ll have to do a pic of the other test for you :)
