(Krystal was initially on my list of references too, but I dropped her after being unable to identify any signature details to incorporate into the design.)

If all nine tails are seen then the situation must truly be life or death -- and the kitsune may even be already plotting a curse to use as its last resort.

Streaming down its back are eight distinct "tassels" of fur that provide defense against predators, but which can also be fanned out as a display or warning. Combined with the fox's abilities, it can project an appearance of nine full tails, but only one tail is actually the real thing.
8x5", inverse colored pencil.
The smaller image at bottom was inspired by this asset I found while searching for reference material early on. (I even used it as a placeholder in composition until my version was drawn.)]]>Lucent Moonfox by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:8a74c37c-436b-c96b-aa7a-60aeae1c36692022-10-21T18:05:27-07:00He's done! And right on time, too.
A Lucent Moonfox has modest abilities, such as conjuring foxfire or creating illusions. The latter includes being able to change what appearance he projects -- technically this means he can appear perfectly human, but he generally refuses to let his true nature be hidden under disguise.
The armor pads are a clue to which art prompt inspired this idea. It is actually like the 4th or 5th attempt at placing some kind of clothing/dress on him (most of which I couldn't make work with this composition).
8x5", inverse colored pencil (first time using that technique in literal years).]]>Lucent Nine-tail Fox WIP by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:407b38e4-b403-3bc7-4e84-f674c24b3de22022-10-15T21:24:57-07:00Second drawing for my little art prompt -- the same fox, but now invoking his full kitsune powers.
Hope that you never have to see more than one tail. If all nine come out, it is already too late.

This fox has abilities such as illusions (this is technically not his true form) and foxfire, which also grow stronger under moonlight.

I have used this creature design in a few of my stories (one of my main characters is one, in fact). An "alce" or "spined gryphon", the signature flares on the shoulders of this wingless, four-legged avian could be either decorative feathers or hardened spines depending on which story it is.
(No my art is not dead, it was exactly where I left it! ...but I did need to get a new scanner, and one does not "simply" shake off several years' worth of rust.)

Except that he's not holding Luxrite or anything like that -- I borrowed design elements from Lucarionite, the Lucario mega stone. Not that you'll be confusing this guy for a Lucario any time soon....

And according to the latest images, it apparently looks like THIS.
I like Absol plenty much as-is and would never accept him getting an evo, but . . . I gotta admit it -- I love this new design just as much. (And there's always room for some Okami swirls....)

CONFIRMED Fire-type starter for the 6th generation Pokémon games (Pokemon X and Y versions), expected to be out in October 2013.
(National Pokedex number is a guess.)

(...sure, go ahead and keep telling yourself that.)
----
Anyway, this is Kitan as he appears in my 2011 Nanowrimo novel. He doesn't particularly like being called an Elder, and he absolutely refuses to let anyone talk about his tail(s) in front of him. But he still has the best nose of any character in the setting, quick feet to keep him alive, and is second in authority only to Rava.

So here's me making an attempt at what their official designs look like. (Somebody leaked scans of a CoroCoro magazine article onto the Internet, which included a two-page spread revealing their new forms)
Alt-form Landorus almost reminds me of Raikou for some reason....]]>Sceptile and family by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:5a23e6ee-9633-4179-30d4-907c139cfcba2011-09-09T19:16:15-07:00Completed drawing of the full Treecko-Grovyle-Sceptile evolutionary line.

(Original here)
This is my take on said gryphon -- no digital skills required, just print a copy, redraw into my sketchbook and color in.
I chose tiger stripes because (1) tigers are awesome, and (2) I had already printed several tiger photos for reference on a different gryphon.

Argyle is a Smeargle, which means he can Sketch and duplicate virtually any attack/skill used against him. He also tends to summon a substitute Poké doll to take hits in his place.
Those scars on his back are there for a particular reason, but he doesn't talk about it.

She got eclipsed a bit by the other cast members during fights, but at least she had a good debut. The idea of a Ninjask using a Shedinja like a puppet to do the fighting for her was, you may guess, based on a certain manga.
8x5" pencil drawing taking about 3 hours (if you count the vector decor).]]>The Exile by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:c0baa9b8-989f-92af-4a2b-bf7c9450742c2011-02-11T18:11:14-08:00Profile sheet for a character I've been thinking up lately. She'll show up in my novel eventually.
You may notice there's something ... off about her design. You see, the price one pays for getting banished from the Luxray tribe is they snap off your tail. Since it never heals, it means you can never go back.

Chibiterasu is a "Li'l Ammy", and the main character for the Okami sequel (officially confirmed) in development for the DS.
There's news, rumors, and (as of September 9th) even an official trailer floating around the Internet about it. Search up "Okamiden" sometime....

I couldn't think of a good musical term to use for her name, so she gets midboss naming convention.
With Ammy being a sun goddess, it is only natural that her pin psych should be Holy Light.

More or less a redesign from his 2006 and 2008 versions.
