If all nine tails are seen then the situation must truly be life or death -- and the kitsune may even be already plotting a curse to use as its last resort.

Streaming down its back are eight distinct "tassels" of fur that provide defense against predators, but which can also be fanned out as a display or warning. Combined with the fox's abilities, it can project an appearance of nine full tails, but only one tail is actually the real thing.
8x5", inverse colored pencil.
The smaller image at bottom was inspired by this asset I found while searching for reference material early on. (I even used it as a placeholder in composition until my version was drawn.)]]>Lucent Moonfox by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:8a74c37c-436b-c96b-aa7a-60aeae1c36692022-10-21T18:05:27-07:00He's done! And right on time, too.
A Lucent Moonfox has modest abilities, such as conjuring foxfire or creating illusions. The latter includes being able to change what appearance he projects -- technically this means he can appear perfectly human, but he generally refuses to let his true nature be hidden under disguise.
The armor pads are a clue to which art prompt inspired this idea. It is actually like the 4th or 5th attempt at placing some kind of clothing/dress on him (most of which I couldn't make work with this composition).
8x5", inverse colored pencil (first time using that technique in literal years).]]>Lucent Nine-tail Fox WIP by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:407b38e4-b403-3bc7-4e84-f674c24b3de22022-10-15T21:24:57-07:00Second drawing for my little art prompt -- the same fox, but now invoking his full kitsune powers.
Hope that you never have to see more than one tail. If all nine come out, it is already too late.

I have used this creature design in a few of my stories (one of my main characters is one, in fact). An "alce" or "spined gryphon", the signature flares on the shoulders of this wingless, four-legged avian could be either decorative feathers or hardened spines depending on which story it is.
(No my art is not dead, it was exactly where I left it! ...but I did need to get a new scanner, and one does not "simply" shake off several years' worth of rust.)

I was watching a documentary called "Der taumelnde Kontinent" (the staggering continent) on German television, which was showing how people in spent their final few weeks before the outbreak of WWI.
Even though the storm was already coming, clear for almost anyone to see, still the party went on...until the horrible awakening.
This was the longest work I have ever done. That Picture is also slightly larger in size than what I normally do (the original is A3 size) and it took me almost 9 months to finish (with interruptions, of course). The medium is pencil, as usual, and I decided against the use of any coloring or other digital stuff on this. Just old School paper and pencil.

Holy crap, I finally have artwork to submit. O_O It's only been forever. Ha ha! Anyway I actually wasn't going to do as much with this drawing as I did... but it just kept growing. Originally it was just Zelda posing with her sword, but then idea after idea kept coming and well here we are. I have never attempted a nouveau drawing before... so I have to admit I wasn't really sure where to start, but I came up with a design and stuck with it. And according to the latest images, it apparently looks like THIS.
I like Absol plenty much as-is and would never accept him getting an evo, but . . . I gotta admit it -- I love this new design just as much. (And there's always room for some Okami swirls....)

Character: Aang
Medium: Pencil, paper, photoshop
Time Taken: 6-8 hours
Oh look, another drawing!! I have to admit I am surprised it took me this long to submit some Avatar fanart... It's one of my favorite shows! So I decides I would start by following the Avatar cycle. Expect to see a Water: Katara next!
I actually had a difficult time coming up with a pose for Aang. I guess Air isn't my element. I really wanted a swirling motion to illustrate the Airbending style. I finally settled on on this post though. I also wanted to experiment with color a bit on this one. I chose a blue background and I thought it might be neat to have orange and yellow near the base of the tornado, as if Aang were moving so fast he was a blur.

Series: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Character: Link, Navi, & some Wolfos.
This piece belongs with the other two Zelda pieces I added forever ago. Now I have done one of each of the three tunics! Yays! Now what will I do. :P
Actually, this piece was an experiment for me. I wanted to try and make a picture that was done fast (well faster than I usually color) but still have the amount of quality I require from myself. I was faster for sure, and I am very pleased with the overall result. I do feel though that with practice I can do much better and be much faster.
So hopefully this will be the first of many new drawings to come. I hope you enjoy.]]>Elder Kitan by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:69c95d5a-cfbb-b5d3-dda3-33afa255879e2012-06-10T18:14:58-07:00"What are you talking about? I do not have three tails!"

Anyway, this is Kitan as he appears in my 2011 Nanowrimo novel. He doesn't particularly like being called an Elder, and he absolutely refuses to let anyone talk about his tail(s) in front of him. But he still has the best nose of any character in the setting, quick feet to keep him alive, and is second in authority only to Rava.

Okay so I decided I wanted to do a set of three pictures, with the color themed after Link's other tunics. Obviously, this is the red one. :P I decided I wanted to have Link fighting a lizalfos with a lava fall in the background. Big mistake there, the lava probably took more time than anything else on the picture. It's good experience though right?
I tried a few new techniques on the lizalfos' skin and I was pretty pleased with the result. I will have to remember it if I ever draw more of them. I also noticed that there are very few references for lizalfos, so I changed the design slightly. I actually had the idea for this picture a few years ago but I never drew it because I was pretty uncomfortable with drawing perspective. I still am a little nervous about making it accurate, but I am better than I used to be. I also feel like you don't improve if you don't challenge yourself.

So there was a bit of a discussion on this picture as to how the baby goat should look. It was difficult to decide if the goat should have horns that connected or horns at all. Eventually we decided that the horns would be connected, just smaller than the adult.

Well here is the picture for this week. It actually took me a lot longer than I had planned on, mainly because Sheik's outfit is very complicated. The background didn't take nearly as long as i thought it would. I tried some new techniques using different brushes for the stone. It seemed to save a little bit of time and still looks pretty good.
I was very sad to see that Sheik did not make an appearance in Twilight Princess, which is too bad too, I could so see Sheik leaping from the towers of Hyrule Castle, ready to kick some butt! I went back and forth on whether or not the squares should be in the picture. It is the Twilight Relm, but the squares stuck out too much the way I originally had them, so I blended them into the background a little more and it seemed to work much better.]]>The Exile by Stratadrakeurn:uuid:c0baa9b8-989f-92af-4a2b-bf7c9450742c2011-02-11T18:11:14-08:00Profile sheet for a character I've been thinking up lately. I actually drew this picture years ago when I was in a digital art class in college. I found it a few days ago and thought it looked pretty good for an older drawing and decided to color it. I also decided that I was going to give myself a weekly challenge to draw and color at least one thing a week, so here is the start of that challenge. :P
One of the reasons I am trying to challenge myself is most of my digital drawings take too long. I am trying to learn how to color faster. It didn't take me a year to finish this one. :P
So for starters, I am very pleased with this one. It's actually going to be for someone else, but I was so proud of the final piece I wanted to post it. Because this was for someone else, I really pushed my skills to the limits (and my computer too!!). I have been working on this for about a month now... I was actually about halfway finished with this and went back to work on it to find that the file had been corrupted, which meant a week's worth of work was lost. But I managed to make all that up in four days. Not bad huh? :P
As for inspiration... I guess you could say the person who this belongs to is the inspiration. There is also a little poem I wrote for the piece, but I doubt I will post it here, since no one reads these right?]]>King of Halloween II by Seifer-samaurn:uuid:ac4defd9-7f86-04dd-87e1-e07734caab752010-10-07T19:58:06-07:00Happy Halloween everyone!!! This was my own original character and this is actually my second time drawing him. The old one is in my gallery somewhere, but it's been a while and I must say, I like the new one much better. :P I kept the design of the character for the most part, but just made a few changes to make him easier to color.
