He was a biological engineering student at a university on Olveirett, which is pretty much the center of biological and astronomical science in the galaxy. There he met Jih''Hes, an Olveirettan who was a pretty big figure in microbiological study before having a religious awakening.
Jih begins to serve the goddess Olveirett and studies the Manzei religion, which seems to give him ''magic'' abilities. Kabon doesn''t really buy into it, though they are friends and colleagues. Gradually, though, he begins to have visions of his future with a Masivyk girl he will fall in love with named Hessiah ;) Since he can''t control his visions, he can''t really tell what time he exists in most of the time, especially since he continues to refuse to buy into religion.
He''s just a funny, stubborn, worldly character.Jutcri Zevorstal baj by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:53e85e46-b587-e9a4-abf8-9182a8a27d9d2008-06-29T20:21:16-07:00This is another character from my sci-fi in progress. His name is Jutcri-baj, which is basically "junior," since hsi father has the same name. It''s a suspicion / practice the Meru have called namesake reincarnation, where when a father dies, a son can inherit their memories.
Jutcri''s father was a leader of their empire for a tme until he got kicked out of office, since the Meru are a subspecies of the Mecidel that is looked down upon. Jutcri-baj was the ground commander on an ice world called Gochen Belena when NISSOF, a different political group / their enemy =P, took out their defenses and used the soldiers their as hostages to negotiate some changes on the trade/resources scene. NISOFF is bastardly.
Anywhoo, Jutcri-baj got pretty screwed up mentally there, got addicted to some drugs, faked his death, and became a mercenery before the Mecidel government could kick him out and take his reputation like his father''s ;)

Yes, the background is loser-licious =D I got lazy on it big time, but this is pretty old, so I''ve gotten better at them.Jode Rolough by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:28b8c8a3-c784-a605-b744-76904721c1252008-06-29T20:11:46-07:00This is a character from a sci-fi novel in progress. His name is Jode Rolough, and he's a Mecidel soldier who was injured during a battle on the very cold planet Gochen Belena, which the Mecidel had just established as a jumping-off point to confront some political enemies endangering their trade and dominance in the region.
Jode lost his memory because of the stress of the war and also has some pretty significant head trauma. Luckily, when he's sold to the Olveirettan as a slave, his master Jih'Hes is a doctor.Sci-fi Transvestite by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:3ca60565-8aab-8916-36f6-3e4c565882732008-06-25T18:07:50-07:00This is Semaj, he's a character in a science fiction novel in progress. He's a Makyv, which is basically a human subspecies that isn't as dimorphic as ours. Their society is rules by women, and their men are given anaphrodesiacs to keep their sex drives under control ;) Semaj has an older sister named Hessiah, though, who helped convinced their mother to raise him as a girl to give him the same opportunities as her. So, Semaj is basically a cross dresser in space.
He's also a Manzei, which is a religious order that believes the gods impart mortals with their powers as a result fo their devotion to be their hands in the mortal realm. Um... yeah, he's better at it than his sister, but she gets more of a spot light because this other Manzei with visions is all obsessed with her and thinks they already have a destiny planned out together. Oh, Kabon.
Anywho, I cropped this version, since I didn't like how the skin on his hands came out =POrdinary Miracle by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:e03d1179-0898-a8b2-6c91-54ae16f4b16c2008-06-25T17:58:31-07:00This is the poster I did on Painter for my Russian class play, which translates to "Ordinary Miracle." It was a really cute play about this wizard who turns a bear into a man. He wants to turn back into a bear but can only do so by getting a princess to fall in love with him and kiss him. Unfortunately, he falls in love, too, and then runs away for fear that she'll learn he's a bear =)

After Vasiley and Hess, I knew the paper wouldn't hold what a realistic background would require. The paper on the last one was terribly warped with just one light layer. So, I just added a gradient, since I didn't want to mess it up. I put in Ebad's legs as promised, and (after checking Bart's profile) I added his tattoo, which I had forgotten. I'd also thought he was blonde, so I'm glad I checked everything. He's got a straight, 7 through Jack, but I don't think Poker was around back then
Why does Pietro get a bigger mug of rum than everyone else?

Whoo. It was crazy fitting all these people in this one. I'm glad it's done with. Hopefully it will be painted and completely done with tomorrow, so I can check it off my list.
This pic centrers on Edward Roberts and Michael Blaylock, just regular crew members from the RPG Life on the High Seas gambling. Blaylock belongs to NauticalNymph and Edward (aka Bart) belongs to SaturnWind. Michael is an Irish boy, used to be a marine drummer boy on the HMS Restitution before deserting. Edward served on a few merchant vessels before the Sirena, I believe. Then in the back at the center table: left, we have Alexander Hatch, an old drunk with a mermaid tattooed on his forearm. He actually died before the Sirena was introduced, but he comes up in conversation now and then as having fallen overboard drunk. So, I had to include him. He appears to be scolding Jesse at the table furthest to the left. I also made him blind in one eye, lol.
On the right side of the center table is Ebad, a middle-aged sailor that is friends with Bart, having served with him on their last merchant ship. Slinking through the gun deck looking for a seat is Pietro Manelli, a childhood friend of the captain who always took advantage of the man's leniency towards him and wa finally shot in the face for trying to molest his cabin boy. He has been stalled by Woodword, the ship's odd purser, and looks quite upset about it. Woodward is known never to show his face above decks and even frightens Angelo at times with his awkwardness. Sinclair Maurice Porter (right) is a French privateer that is her complete original character. To the left is Lieutenant Tom Pullings. He's originally from Master and Commander but has become his own character, I think ^^ Sinclair by all accounts should be in something less obviously French, since he sneaks around so much where he doesn't belong, but I'm a sucker for the French naval uniforms. They look so snazzy, and he looks like one cocky bastard :)
SW asked me to draw her hugging Tom, so I can only assume she's taking his side in this exchange. Knowing Sinclair, it won't save Tom, though-- not unless SW gives the old fox a smackeroo ;) ;) Especially since she's hugging Tom's crotch, an accident in sketching that I did not seek to rectify. She didn't ask for a background, so I just added some gradients with pattern overlays :pSirena Crew: In the Galley by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:7586fe44-6698-bdf3-6947-7844a4d3bf782006-08-12T10:02:56-07:00This picture features Vasiley Gregorovich Orlav and Doctor Nathaniel hess. Vasiley is a Russian dockworker that is as hairy as a werewolf and was pressed to the crew to help with repairs, while Hess is a German spy working for the French. He was doing some observations in India when he was also pressed to help the captain, who had been stabbed by his Chinese lover Xing Li Hu, desparate for what little money he had. The crew's doctoring had done little good, but Hess saved Torricelli's life to save his own. Hess made himself even more valuable when he proved himself to be an excellent cook, ousting Vasiley from one of his other tasks.
The Russian pesters him constantly, his most annoying habit being that he sneaks int he galley while Hess steps out and eats some of the captain's soup. Man, Angelo has a scar on his shoulder from being stabbed, and Twig has one on his chest that looks like a prostitute scratched him.
This is the first of five pictures commissioned by NauticalNymph for members of the Sirena's crew. The Sirena is a 6th rate French vessel captured by the English, recaptured by the French, and eventually stolen by Angelo Torricelli, an Italian pirate. The Sirena does most of its work in Southeast Asia, but crew members include everyone from pressed English sailors to Norwegian masters and dock workers from St. Petersburg.
This picture is of Josiah Kent (aka Twig) and Angelo (aka Lowlocks). They're sorting out a course with Australia, but having forgotten this, I estimated the coordinates for India when making the map. Ha hmm. I then blurred them out conveniently ;) Kent was deserted in India when his parents were being shipped off to the Australian penal colony. He was part of the HMS Surprise's crew and came up the hawse hole to become a midshipman. He wasn't fond of the new duties and was actually pleased to be pressed to the pirate crew. He has an aptitude for math and is being tutored by the ship's irritable master Dagfinn Kittelsen. The tattoo on his arm is the Hindi word for 'promise,' but the first letter can't be seen. You can also see the headboard of Angelo's mandolin.
All of this is from one of the many story lines in Life on the High Seas. It's about Dionysus getting revenge by driving the entire city of Thebes mad because they refused to worship him. This particular scene is when he finally drives the king, Pentheus, mad, has him dress as a woman, and ends up later getting him ripped apart by his mother, Agave.
Enjoy
I tried to stick close to the descriptions, but the thyrsus is in the wrong hand, and a few other mistakes, but bah. I may color this... In this scene, soldiers have brought 'the stranger' before Pentheus, King of Thebes. The man has been spreading the worship of Dionysus, son of Zeus, whom Pentheus does not recognize among the Olympian gods. Little does he know that the stranger is actually Dionysus in human form, a human form that is quite feminine, as Pentheus points out. Dionysus has a few humorous exchanges with him before being imprisoned. He later drives Pentheus insane and gets him killed.
I did this in pastels on masonite yesterday. I think I might have had better blending if it had been on paper, but I like trying out new things. Unlike the last picture, I gave him a leopard skin instead of a leopard-print cape. I also gave him some eyeliner to keep up the asian influences on him. Yeah, so I keep drawing profiles to try and improve on them, but it doesn't seem to be working when I don't use any reference. This was actually a 5 minute magic I did when I first got my tablet. Painted in Painter Essentials, fixed in Photoshop because the other program is miserably alike to painting. If I wanted that trouble, I'd get out my paints and yet -- years later-- end up with something worth talking about!
In any case ^^, Angelo Torricelli is an Italian pirate mostly working in South East Asia. He's also a complete failure and would probably be dead by now if it wasn't for the Norwegian master he pressed, Dagfin Kittelsen, who hates him for that as well as because Angelo's a paederist! He met Twig when he was a young boy deserted in India while his criminal parents were being whisked off to Australia. Twig became part of an English crew soon after, though, and it wasn't until he became a midshipman that they happened to meet again by chance at a theatre performance in Portsmouth. Angelo whisked him away and made a savage out of him ;)
Angelo expects a mutiny to take hold of his ship at any moment because he's a lousy captain I mean, his nickname is Black Lowlocks, and he managed to burn off all his hair trying to mimic Blackbeard-- hence the short hair in the pictureSedgewick for HViciPrice by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:8cbc39e7-0fdc-7f9d-811d-bd2786f7ec2f2006-07-18T10:37:57-07:00Baron Aramis Byron Maximilian Sedgewick is the property of HViciPrice. Nicki is from an aristocratic Russian family that became displaced during the fall of Catherine the Great. Therefore, he is a character full of contradictions, humble and proud the most notable. More of my friend's characters. Nickolai Petrovich Volkov again on the right. In addition to being a homosexual actor in 19th century England and an aspiring diplomat due to family connections, Nickolai can also see ghosts, an ability he finds frightening, annoying, and ominous in varying degrees in varying situations. This particular scene is when Nickolai is recovering his relationship with his father by pursuing a more professional career, while a 1000 year old Roman soldier prods him flirtatiously with his spear ;)
2. Hadrian Wright, Slytherin, born to a rich wizard family. He's a hypochondriac, probably because his parents didn't pay enough attention when he was a child.
3. Dacian Fairfax, Hufflepuff. His mother works in the ministry, so he's a bit of a nerd. Great at potions, but a bit rebellious in that he makes his own and sells them.
5. Caradoc Corbin is also in Slytherin. His father owned a potions shop before being discovered as one of the early dark wizards that would eventually make up the death eaters. Unfortunately, looking at fanart destroyed the surprise before I read it, so I won't go past that. (I don't know if it's even considered a secret anymore O.o?) Filch is on the left, Norris and Potter center, and Snape on the right. This is seen through the eye of Moody, so I put Harry in gold ink. It took about 24 hours to ink since it was massive, and it was my first and last time ever using ink so far.
It took me so logn because, like I said, the pic is huge. with the 300k limit, I could barely get it on here with the gold ink. For a full version, see the link below:

She's the administrator of our group. These characters are from the RPG we're in- Life on the High Seas. The guy with the blue coat is her character Nickolai Chevalier Petrovitch, a Russian theatre performer living in Portsmouth England with his fond 'friend,' the fellow with the hat, an Irish tailor named Matty. He is telling Nicki and Nicki's niece Mishka a story. The inspiration for this was the song Raggle Taggle Gypsy, to which she introduced me. Also featured is Mishka's stuffed patchwork goat Mr. Bernard, which Matty made for her. The RPG takes place presently in 1805, though this happened a few years earlier.
Irmo, also known as Lorien, is one of the Fanturi, masters of fate, from the Tolkien / LotR mythology. He is the Vala of dreams and is working his magic at this very moment! (I'm tired, at least O.o) The idea of faeries existing in the Lord of the Rings universe was an idea more so played with in The Lost Tales version of the Silmarillion, but I'm still fond of the idea that they would help Irmo cause his mischief or give insight ;) of course, in this one, the pleasant dreams seem to be winning.
In this picture, I especially love the teddy bear and little girl =) and Irmo's eyes and tilted smirk. The Fanturi - Masters of Fate by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:8dbe8d2e-f626-e518-848c-33c8ad1f1d252005-12-05T15:53:15-08:00This is an acrylic painting I did a year and a half ago. It is now available as a print (and cheap, too!) at deviant art: http://www.deviantart.com/print/233675/
In Tolkien mythology, there were two trees that made light for the world before the sun and the moon. Telperion was the silver tree, the moon, and the Fanturi liked it best. The Fanturi were Namo and Irmo (right and left), masters over death and over dreams, and so called 'masters of spirit,' which is the translation of Fanturi. When the fallen Vala Melkor destroyed the Two Trees, it was said that the last drop of Telperion's dew was held in the halls of Namo.
The figures featured in the center are actually a statue, holding up a bottle with this last drop. There are also surrounding spirits under the influences of either Namo or Irmo.Slytherin Quidditch Practice by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:92ef4a31-9b8e-bc36-c1e3-35d3314d63862005-08-18T13:01:06-07:00Yes, it has been a life time since I've been on FAC, but here I am none the less. I've been getting ready for college, working a two jobs at one point, driving around, and most importantly getting ready for Halloween. (I'm getting better actually. I used to get ready for it in January o.o)

In any case, about the picture-- I figure they're practicing because there aren't any other teams about- or an audience from what little you would be able to see there. We've got Severus Snape as a seeker, Lucius Malfoy as keeper, and two originals between NauticalNymph and myself: Hadrian Wright the chaser, and Caradoc Corbin, the beater waiting for an approaching bludger. I got the banners from thehiddentower.net. And yes, there are many problems, and I love every one of them =DMasquerade by NauticalNymphurn:uuid:c126a6f4-2cd3-becd-aeba-9c5385af20e02005-07-25T19:18:47-07:00Minerva, younger, and dressed to go to a masquerade ball... for an rpg. =)Gunter and Gabriel by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:f192101f-787f-5e21-112b-f6e0630d719f2005-07-22T12:52:15-07:00I thought these were two interesting characters to compare. The first is Gunter Busch. He's an illiterate German peasant during the Napoleonic Wars. He's in his early thirties and has seven children. The other is Gabriel Badeau, a forty year old Frenchman with no children who is from the Bourgeosie (basically an aristocrat). He is well versed in Greek writing and art. Thanks to his ties with Italy, he was one of the few people in France to escape poverty during the Revolution. They both, however, are very kind.Waking the Dead by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:135aedc8-4b6f-71b5-499e-01a6894f34542005-06-12T20:51:47-07:00Asi is a Mecidel Dark Manzei that lived on Asorica, the center for the Manzei 'magicians' as well as the site of the tombs for them. After death, the Manzei must reside as spirits in their tombs for several years until the energy built up from their spells fades so they can be redistributed into their creators. Asi, though, is woken by Ipdas, the Manzei in the adjacent tomb, who is a friend of his, as well as a chaos factor. Ipdas was created alone / without a pair that would allow him to create a race. The realization of this gives him power to overcome the bonds of death and manipulate the living. Asi was a musician as well as a 'seer' in life. This means he has some power of premonition allowed to him by his creator, so he is able to help Ipdas in his goals until they begin to become corrupt and rather insane.

The guy lookin in the tomb is Lectar, the keeper of the Asorican tombs, who is supposed to be ensuring the spirits are not disturbed. Lectar is also a damned soul because he has been keeping himself alive through Manzei spells for over a thousand years, having no son of his own to watch the tombs.Evil Demonish Auhmehan Guy by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:03cc66b4-6604-9936-e4aa-21d8a193f6692005-05-16T19:36:57-07:00Quick Photoshop ^^ I've been doing some race sketches form a fantasy story I did =) This is an example of the Aumehan race. I keep making them more detailed and distant from the simple, basically human thing they had going at first, but NauticalNymph does not like the changes =D She was kind enough to say something that made me sick: "Are those spiders crawling out of his mouth?" The answer is no, by the bye. Also, some of his skin is decaying because he is a Dark Manzei and sacrifices himself slowly for power o.o I didn't spend much time on his hair because it wasn't important to me thinking on the species.Annouska Again by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:eacac2d6-490b-81aa-1547-b7f7916b72c72005-05-09T10:36:11-07:00This Annouska, one of NauticalNymph's role-playing characters... at least, she ties into the life of her character Nickolai Petrovitch. I wrote her name in cyrillic, but I can't guarantee it's 100% accurate since Americans pronounce Russian names differently (i.e. Vladimir = vladeemeer).
But in any case, there she is to make up for my last terrible picture of Nicki that will be deleted when I get around to it. That's what I get for trying a different style of shading ;)
Anou was the daughter of one of the men who built Nicki's house in Russia. She was killed in an accident and buried there but played with him when he was younger as a ghost until she one day disappeared entirely. I made her a little older in this piccie, and I colored her hair and lips red because of a bit of symbolism that popped up in the rpg via Nicki thinking on the color.2 Comics on Laziness by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:53cc1cc8-6ac3-cf91-8243-cac1306b0fcb2005-04-18T12:58:19-07:00Two more for my school newspaper and more to come. I wanted to do a better realism of him since my other pictures were on Photoshop, which I'm not to great with (but slowly getting better ^^) He is presently my main character in the FAC RPG Life on the High Seas. So far he's been on a ship once in the game O.o
I was happy with this picture (depsite the dark stripe characteristic of my sketchbook pieces) because he looks very French ;)Life off the High Seas- David and Nickolai by Jailcrow_of_Mandosurn:uuid:f50c1658-de0a-fdf1-a266-3a6aea90b5802005-04-05T17:31:08-07:00This was a "5-minute Magic" prize for NauticalNymph finishing her homework a few days ago, which I colored today. I had to do something to hold her over for her soon to come birthday present ;) tomorrow or thursday, Nymph.
Two characters from the FAC RPG Life on the High Seas. These characters are typically off the high seas, however, and only just met. Nicki (red hair) is an English/Russian stage performer who is caught up in France presently (1805), and being a theatre pouffe he has taken liking to a confused marine who escaped from prison (captured after the Treaty of Amiens dissolved.)No Original Title by NauticalNymphurn:uuid:5174b8ca-16ea-c999-8aff-d2512323b9052005-03-29T18:00:10-08:00Just tried my hand at the old potions master... I had it cluttered with Macbeth quotes before because I find the parallels between him and my character interesting, but they also... well... cluttered. I also stopped messing with filters to put in my original shading with a brown tint, since I prefer having some color.
I drew the picy but the pose is from someone else. I edited a little. Well, these two are Romulus and Remus, sons of Mars. Romulus is the supposed founder of Rome. And well, they were found by a she-wolf by the River Tiber where they had been abandoned, and thus the story...
