Actually, if the eyes see a certain color for too long, it will start wearing out the cones, and I'll start seeing red afterimages everywhere. I would only just see red if I'm incredibly color blind except for red. It would be kind of awesome to see everything in one color. But it would stink when I do not know when Red Tide is.
