Um, about Valkyre's eyes.... :tilts head: It was kinda only a... urr, it's a demon thing. XD;
But since he's not a full-blooded demon, his eyes don't stay red. Just like with Iris; it just makes their eyes turn red for a little while. :> Meepits! Sorry. It's a terrible detail, huh? I'd never actually thought about it too much myself, just let it play out that way... Oh well.
More work to be improved on. XD

Nicely done thier really isn't much bad even about this especially since i loved the first chapter. I see u have like 60 chapters and it would kinda help if u like kinda shrinked them into like 20 instead of 60...its alot of loading for me -.- anyway the story good. Idc what its about but u sure know how to work into a nice prologue I have to say ur detial is impressive and ur chr's are one of kind truly. This i'd say would have to be one of the only stories on FanArt other then the writing i set aside time for that i will actually read through

It was for DefyDeath_DefyMe. She's been an amazing friend to me, and for her birthday, as I'm not too good an artist, I decided to write her a story. :> She used a penname 'Iris,' so I partially named the story after her, and also after the one song 'Iris' by GooGooDolls, which is where the original inspiration for the characters and loose plotline came from. :3

I'd like to check out your stuff too sometime, since you're so nice!! But it might take me a while to get around to it~ I'm sorry, but I'm juggling a busy high school life at the same time, and I've got finals soon, and SAT tests!

But to be honest, the few chapters weren't as nice as the first ones. However, I don't blame you. You are a very busy person, and I know how that can affect creativity. ^.^

You have all the time to improve. I'm in no hurry: I have quite a lot to do as well. Besides, those chapters were still good: they just need improvement. And you've given me some ideas for my own story-in-the-making, tentatively titled Aion Teleos/Aeon Prophecy[/i] (which title I want is still a mystery.) But alas, I digress. ^^;

Ah. Okay. So I went a little overboard. He wasn't made the same way...but still, very interesting that Camael says that Iris was made by the world, whereas Valkyre is "man-made," when Iris was made in the lab (I think?) and Valkyre was born. How sad, his story... oTT_TTo

I loved how you compared the laughter to a sepia photograph, by the way. I thought that was awesome.

And I think you can still get away with calling Valkyre an angel. Demons are fallen angels, right? Tainted angels, but still angels. So he could still be an angel in reference. Or a dark angel, or something.

You could even call him a paradox or juxtaposition or something, but that seems kinda dehumanizing, so maybe that's not great.

Ahhh...a massive weight of curiosity has been lifted from my shoulders. I finally understand so much better! ^.^ Bravo, Trinity, for an absolutely spectacular unveiling that isn't even the story's climax! X3

Another comment here. I had to read a few more chapters before reviewing.

As I read, I can notice the development of the relationship between Valkyre and Iris. It's grown from animosity, to mere tolerance, to love. As the relationship changes, so do the characters. That's a good thing.

You managed to give me a tense feeling as I read about Valkyre's capture, escape (which I thought would never happen), and eventual rescue of his beloved Iris. You managed to make me FEEL the story- a sure trademark of your ability.

Now, we have the kiss scene. It's short, but sweet, with more of your unmatchable metaphors thrown in for good measure.

Overall, I think this story just keeps getting better and better. I shall continue reading it......but not now, as I'm starting to get lazy again...... *is very disappointed in himself*

I've read the story as a guest, and I've decided to revisit the story.

The rumors of your skill, as I see, are true. This story is simply amazing.

First of all, you managed to get off to a good start with the setting and opening story laid out well, without giving away too much. The ability to write the first scenes well is crucial, as it maintains the reader's interest.

Secondly, your characters are very believable. Okay, so you wouldn't see a black-winged angel and a boy who is "eveything and nothing" in real life (except in cosplay XD ), but the "people" behind them are very real. That's a trademark of good fiction.

Thirdly, the interactions between characters are good and fleshed out. This is also a good sign, as it means your characters aren't "cardboard" characters.

Finally, your descriptions. Normally, ornate descriptions are not too good, but yours transcends "overblown" description. It's actually a joy to read, not a tedious bunch of daed wood.

Overall, I think you've written a good piece of fiction. I have yet to see where this goes, but I think it will be marvelous. You really ought to publish your work: there are many who want to see a good tale right now. *favs and hands you another trophy with your name on it*

I shall continue to review as I read it. Until then, keep writing.

Um, Raguel merely has two differently-colored eyes because of his half-blood-ness. ...somehow. (this was poorly-put together, I don't really like that detail... >>;)

I think (from what I can remember, lol!) Eire and Rheis should both have black eyes.

Hmm. It seems, though, that if zombification truly is what's going on, then only Eire has been zombified. Rheis still seems normal. How weird must that be, to be connected like that for so long, and then not only lose the connection but lose the mind of your sister entirely?

I like how every now and then you write from Iris' perspective. You can really see the difference in Valkyre and Iris' thought processes. Valkyre thinks more in words, Iris in images, more observant and in the moment, not so much worrying about the future.

Anyways. This is an interesting chapter simply by virtue of the fact that (GASP!) we have now seen...THE LAB. However, what might possibly be even more interesting than THE LAB is this odd reaction in Valkyre because of it...what is it? What is it with the lab and Camael and Valkyre that stirs up this bizarrity?? It’s driving me nuts! There are so few clues, only tantalizing confusions...

And no kidding, it’s cool how far you’ve gotten. In celebration of your new chapters, and hitting chapter 40, and just because I haven’t done it for a while...

Oh, and a note here Astri... it wasn't the actual labs that affected Valkyre, but merely the darkness and the sudden spark of light, of the stuff with Camael and candlelight.
So Valkyre's not directly connected to the lab.

Chapter 40! WOOT! Well, YOOT anyways. You Own Other Team! Rah rah!

I think my favorite part of this chapter is the description of the glass of water in the very first paragraph. It’s masterly. Yes, I know it’s just water, but still! It is MASTERLY water! Very special, the perspiration trickling down to sink into the cracks and splinters…it’s quite possibly one of the best descriptions of such an ordinary thing I’ve ever seen.

In a way, it’s sort of like the story itself. Iris and Valkyre are sliding down, trying to get away from the WAY too many problems on their backs but ever falling farther, farther down, heading towards a darkness that will swallow them up like the wood of the table swallows the water unless they can halt their descent and save themselves first.

You Know You Like Iris Too Much When...you compare it to a glass of water. I think I’ll stop while I’m behind...

It hurts like hell. I had a bruise on my shin for a week.

And if you get hit by a goose or, say, a swan's [swans are quite ferocious really] wing in the head, good chance is, you'll get knocked unconscious.

Now, a certain being gets a wingspan about 5x that of a goose's... you think he won't use those to his advantage?? ^_~

Suddenly I feel much less benignly towards tattoos…at least certain animalistic ones on a certain young boy’s back that seem to be pointing towards said boy’s future in a very negative way…

Now THIS chapter took me by surprise. Iris…falling apart…is like the charm seal thing from way back when. It’s going to stick with me, the way you put it, the way you show it. In this place surrounded by earth and spiders. Surrounded by life and ready to die.

An arachnoid. Corryn is an arachnoid. At least, were I forced to give name to form, that is the name I would give him. Well, his species, anyways.

So the question now (ONE OF the questions now) is, how does Valkyre being an archangel figure into Raguel’s plans? For that matter, what does he need with Iris’ blood? And why on earth is Iris so attached to Corryn? Trickery? Delusion? Or was Corryn the only bright spot in the hell of the labs so long ago?

And I still wonder…what did Iris do, that he is so afraid of himself?

Obviously Iris was NOT made in a lab (which I kind of figured ever since Valkyre asked Iris where he came from and Iris said, “I remember the lab,” not just “The lab,” ) but that doesn’t help!! What is he, then?!

And on a side note, I also sympathize with your/ Raguel’s opinion of the world…however, I don’t think that it is too far gone. There is still hope…hope for us before the need for Iris’ blood.

Let the records show that I consider that even further potent foreshadowing. Like Colette’s letter to Lloyd at the beginning of Tales of Symphonia.

Somebody want to explain to me why I keep comparing Iris to Colette? --.--

As for other words, there’s always triumvirate, which is a word I rather like for a seat of ominous government. The only problem is, it only applies if this “big, ominous, but undetailed and unnamed governmental thingie” is headed by three people. “Tri” equals “three,” after all. Hey, more math I can do! ^.^

Failing that, you could also try the word “monolith.” You can refer to a “monolithic government,” so…

I dunno. Probably you’ve already found a better appellation anyways…ne? ~.^

Snow, huh? Lucky ^.^ Bet you wish you had some of that now, huh?

All I can say about this chapter is…it is very creepy. Not just creepy in what happens, but in what is described before anything happens. If this is foreshadowing, it’s foreshadowing some pretty horrific events. (Goddess, take an Advanced Composition class and you analyze everything.) The first half of this chapter, I think, is scarier than the second. No mean feat, considering the first half is mostly jumbled chaos.

But I think that is why it is scarier than the second half. The second half I can understand. The first…is outside my comprehension.

Creepy.

I like this chapter a lot—well, “like” is the wrong word. I mean, I do like it, but there is something from this chapter that is going to stick with me for a long time, and that thing is the charm seal. That…is something right out of a nightmare. And then, the scene once it’s gone and Iris starts to come back to himself is as sweet as the touch of his fingers on Valkyre’s lips.

So, I like this scene, and I dislike it (charm seal --.--) But I like it much more than I dislike it, and as previously stated: this is gonna stick with me for a LONG time.

This chapter has one of the most prosaically hysterical lines I’ve ever seen. For some odd reason, Iris saying, “…Just a small bat,” is absurdly funny to me. I couldn’t tell you why (maybe because it’s 11:29 at night ^.^; ) but it really is.

And no, I don’t think this is really a high lemon story…and yes, I really like the tattoos ^.^

The funny part is, while writing that last sentence, I accidentally put “bat” instead of “tattoos.” See what that line did to me?! ^.^

And not long after my whole statement about Iris not being helpless, look what we see ^.^; He’s REALLY not helpless. He could have torn Valkyre limb from limb when the angel came to kill him, had he wanted to. But that, of course, is the clincher. He doesn’t want to. First he didn’t care, and now I think he might really not want to.

You know, once I’m done with this I think I might have to read it again. Knowing the characters better at the end, I’m going to have to go back again and see the things I missed the first time. Like Iris being able to shred Valkyre without breaking a sweat.

Interesting. This just keeps getting more and more interesting.

Ohhhh…tattoos… :bliss, although rather naughtier bliss than the last one: I LOVE tattoos. Well, some tattoos, anyways. Aesthetic ones. And Valkyre’s sound aesthetic. VERY aesthetic…

I think getting these two characters beyond the “okay, I WON’T stab you on contact” relationship is a huge step, so I’d say this chapter actually accomplished a lot. Plus it is one of those scenes that show intense sensuality in a perfectly innocent act. For some reason, I like that a lot better than when it’s outright; there’s something appealing about the innocuousness of it. Or the subtlety. Or the delicacy.

I have no idea what I’m saying. I’ll stop now.

Oh, good. Iris isn’t the annoying type who just stands there and lets himself be captured. Guy or girl, I always hate that. That’s one of the things I like about Colette—she actually fights back. She still gets kidnapped a few times, but she fights back. She’s not helpless. Iris is not helpless.

Can you say “off-topic”? Sorry ^.^; Really nice action sequence here. I loved the description of the lamia—it was masterly, particularly the description of her tail. “…curling away in soft loops like the trail of a river on flat plains.” Ah, imagery… :bliss:

You know, the amethyst-eyes part reminds me of Tsuzuki, from Yami no Matsuei/ Descendants of Darkness. Except Valkyre isn’t much like Tsuzuki…well, hopefully he’s as hot as Tsuzuki, but he doesn’t act like Tsuzuki ^.^

You misjudge yourself. You don’t have vague dialogue, you have philosophical dialogue. Your dialogue wanders through the mist-shrouded backroads of the abstract and considers broken statues of confusion and thought, caring far more about the way it gets to its destination and how much it can see along the way than how fast it does it. Granted, that drives some people (like my mom) nuts. But me, personally? I like it. It makes me think. Why do I live? What do I want to know? What am I, really?

So, Iris is a philosopher. Among other things. The interesting thing about this chapter (and something that truly demonstrates your prowess as a writer) is how different the chapter reads from Valkyre to Iris. Iris thinks in a completely different way from Valkyre, and here you can see it. This chapter is written in a completely different way from the previous ones with Valkyre. That means you can “hear” character voice. And that’s excellent.

Curiosity is screaming, “Enough with the analyzing! Get back to the bloody story!!” ^.^;

Actually, I kind of liked how the chapter was rather choppy and jumpy because it reflects Corryn's personality (especially in this chapter). It seems to bring more depth to his character! >w< I lurve him... He seems like a lost child. -^^-

Don't apologize for the writing. You clearly have a grasp of plot, character foil, and description. However, on the subject of proper punctuation...it is difficult to figure out when one paragraph ends and the other begins, which often ruins the reading experience because it becomes difficult to space each block of text. Just press the enter button and you'll do fine. Besides that, though, this was nice. So far, I'm interested.

Anyway, great chapter, I don't mind if it takes a while for them to get together, and I agree, it does make it more realistic (even though we all know its coming!), which i like, cos one gets to know the characters, and can begin to predict how they will react in certain situations, which I like to do :)
