This is a very small but interesting community, very unlike DA. I'm on DA also, as jadisofeternity, but I prefer small carried communities like this one. originally I only posted my fan art here, but since storm-artist.net closed I've made this my main art community. I really don't think DA will die whether or not they sell it, I think there's a fair chance it will Improve, and I'm sure it will continue to change as it has over the past 10 or so years. there are lots of interesting small art sites out there. I've tried several. 
yup, I read the Narnia books when I was about 15 and that is when I started calling myself Jadis [late 1970's long before the movie] went by that name in real life till my mid 30's, then went back to my legal name except online. old friends in RL still call me Jadis.

I have an idea for it, which will involve Rukia playing my daughter's fav multi-player game Super Smash Brothers [which contains Samus] ...in your opinion, who would Rukia play a video game WITH [ie Arthur, Alexis, Ichigo, etc], and what character would that person chose from the game[some of the ones I know pretty well are Pitt, Princess Peach, Pokemon trainer, Kirby, Link, Zelda, ? I might not chose the same one you suggest but I'd like your opinion before I chose.

nope. sumo outfits are waaaaaaaaaaaay too skimpy for me. even Audrey's miniskirt was pushing the limit of my standard of modesty. I will not draw anything more bare than that. [well, I'm ok with modest swim suits, but only at a beach or a pool] I don't draw scantly clad people. 
...that and I have no Idea who Chris Thorndyke is and don't have time to research him.

Chris Thorndyke is character from Sonic X anime. Well, he only appears in anime but not in the other sonic franchise except the Archie comics that based on Sonic X and some Sonic games.

Kinda yes and no. I don't like it when I need give criticism to get credit to submit my artworks but I do like it when I got feedbacks from other artists.

LOL...I comment like crazy on everything and don't take time to put up art very much so I should fit in well there, I guess...I haven't really figured out how it works, the points and all. but I like that it encourages people to comment.

Yeah, when I'm losing points and I need to post comments on any good artworks to gain points. The good way to give feedbacks to artists XD

yup. both. I just got 3 more panels drawn and inked just now, I'm gonna scan them now on my iPad, and then I will color them.

that's all I've got to scan on right now. better than nothing. I got the photos emailed to my comp, will be resized and posted line arts [no color yet, sorry] in about 10 minutes. then I'll color.

I had to work on a church thing with my husband and my grandson came over and we had to do easter eggs and then I had to do something I had promised to do with my daughter. and a granddaughter from out of state called because it was easter, and a friend called....and then I had to clean up the mess from easter eggs...tomorrow my daughter has an out of town dental appointment, and I have some house work to catch up on also, and Tues day I work. in the evenings I babysit and I might have time to draw more panels and color them. I'm enjoying working on it and will do it when ever I get time in the next few days, BUT I might not have time. Wednesday I have to go out of town again because my husband has an out of town Dr appointment and can't drive himself to it. Thursday I work. etc. busy,busy, busy....not forgetting, just busy.....

Hey Jadis, thank you for comment (and the fav) on my Unknown Creature No.16. I'm quite happy to see you enjoyed it. And yes, scanning does mess with traditional art, especially graphite the most. Usually I can scan them in relatively well but for some reason this one kept blurring a bit. Is what it is I suppose. Anyways, thanks again!

Hello Jadis, thanks for commenting on my Essence of Shirogane pic. Any and all feedback on this pic in particular is greatly appreciated. Positive feedback means I may be heading in the right direction(?) The game they all hail from is called Persona 4. And technically, in a sense, everyone in the image is a part/aspect of my focal being, Naoto Shirogane; (the character in the middle); hence the title bestowed to the image. ;-) Thanks again! :-)  

Hi, thanks for commenting on my Goo Monster. I don't have a highly extensive knowledge on fantastic shading either. Only some really basic knowledge on it; which I'm still trying to very slowly build upon to better my skills. I've only really been trying my best to understand shading and applying it more heavily to my images for a few years now. Granted my shading (from a highly skilled artists POV) isn't good at all. <=== (at least that's what I'm sure one would think. They'd point out all the flaws that I'm sure to miss. After all, just cause I don't know what is wrong, doesn't mean there is nothing wrong.) But, I enjoyed how they kinda made my images pop and somewhat more realistic and so regardless how bad I continue to apply (and attempt to develop) my shading skills.

Anyways back to the Goo monster's shading... When I first started shading it (around the eye area) I thought the shading started out not too bad looking, but, I kinda started feeling down the more I progressed on it's shading as (IMO) I felt it wasn't up to snuff like the eye area. Like my shading just kept getting worse the more I did it. Perhaps I was just getting lost and inevitably drowning myself in negativity. Either way, when I look back at it, it's not too bad I suppose, but, I know it can definitely be better. It's as I've said I got ways to go on improving my shading, and I'll continue to strive to better my skill set. It's all just a matter of time... and practice. On the positive side, I set out to improve my goo drawing skills and understanding of goo above all and I feel I accomplished that rather well.

Well, sorry for this wall of text and chewing your eyes off. (Btw, I know few Pokemon so I searched up Grimer and yeah, it does look like my goo monster a bite. xP)

I think it's sort of an optical illusion so if you look at it wrong it can flip over and become wrong in your brain. I think your shading on this looks good to me. I suppose if the goo were shiny goo perhaps adding some bright highlight might help? I don't do those much I don't know how. I notice you went darker underneath, that looks good.  anyhow good job for practicing.

Btw, out of curiosity, have you been able to log into the forums on here? I keep getting an error preventing me from doing so, (I already mentioned it to Stratadrake), I'm just curious if anyone else is having this problem or if it's just me.  

I"ve never had trouble getting into the forum, I logged in today and yesterday. I hope you got that problem corrected. 
I've discovered that no one seems to be able to make a new account here, since decenter or so. I reported that but have not heard anything back about it.

It seems to have been resolved. Be it either by luck or correction, or what have you. I'm able to get back in. I did see your post on that in 'General Help'. Went to create an account myself to check it out. And I have to say, that's a serious problem for those who want to join. This problem is impeding potential growth of user base on here.

Seriously impeding. Impeding is an understatement.  As is our only way of growing is finding people who already have an account and reactivating them.

Ok. I didn't say I didn't get it in the end, I said I figured out what you actually meant within seconds....I'm sorry you found my initial misunderstanding offensive, or not interesting, but I accurately wrote exactly what thoughts went through my head as I first viewed the picture..I would never intentionally make up such a misunderstanding just to be rude or funny or whatever, but I find  language interesting and how the mind can easily misunderstand and come up with something far different than what was intended. If someone shared something like that on an art I posted I would find it interesting.  I'm not a perv I'm a mormon grandmother, I wasn't trying to twist it, my mind takes such twists without my consent occasionally.
You were right to delete it.  Just because my mind went there doesn't mean others should be lead to go the same place. I sincerely apologize for all annoyance offense discomfort or whatever my comment caused...what can I do to make it up to you?

Just please don't do it again, that's all I really ask.

Maybe look into the Shantae franchise a little bit too for a better understanding. It's a really good indie franchise and could use more attention.

It's some sort of a video game, right? like a d&d sort of thing? [I'm guessing because it includes opening chests] I don't play games so my attention to it will not benefit it much, but I will indeed go  look it up and inform myself about it. Hey Jadis, thanks for commenting on both my Skeleton Necklace and Clamp. I liked the little skela-dude with the heart as well. 

As for your question you left on "Clamp" on: how I can tell it's the same creature, I kept one thing in mind when recreating him: body build. The original has the following body build that the revised version has: big head, feelers on head, large body (appears to be hunched and/or have a hump on back), large forearms, small back legs. Granted if you were to look at the two of them side by side you might not see any similarity. But, as the creator of Clamp I see it, and that's all that's really important.

I just read your blog and I just wanted to say that, yes, I do think that this website is in decline too. However, I also think that it's possible to save it though. I am not sure if any of the moderators keep up with the site anymore x.x but I have been here for quite a long time, I deleted my first account though and started this new one for a new start. And from what I can remember, this site started declining due to drama (there was a lot of it), and then several of the regulars left and just never came back. I like smaller communities too, so hopefully we can do something to  make this site more active like it used to be.

well according to stratodragon there are still 3 active staff members, and stratodragon at least is very active, assuring comments quite promptly on the forum and such, so it's not dead yet. 
so, I think what is needed is active participation and community building on the part of the community. if we all stay active, post arts, comment on arts, put games and questions on the forum, etc, we can keep this things alive. 
I'm new, so I can't know what you mean "active like it used to be" do you have some suggestion on how to increase positive activity?

When I was here the first time, I wasn't really in the forums much (I guess that I was young and shy at the time) but that may be a good thing to get up and going again. And I've noticed some "updates" here and there, so I kinda guessed that they were still around some... but not like they used to be, I guess? The last post that a mod has made on the front page was in 2013. x.x
Oh well there used to be 20-30 people online at any given time throughout the day. I mean there were more members than that of course, but they were on a lot more. I think that one thing that decreased the activity a lot is because, from what I can remember, people were getting modded for leaving too many comments on profiles... because they deemed it not a social website. So that really didn't help, but it seems like they may have gotten rid of that rule now though. It also seems like they've gotten rid of the "three a day" and "needs approval before posting" rules. That will help too. It wasn't always like that, it just became a thing later.
But it seems like you have a good formula. Add pictures, leave comments, games, etc. Contests always seemed to be a good thing too... like, some users would host contests where artists entered in themed (for the contest) pictures and then they judged who the winners were, and as a prize, they got some kind of artwork in return.
I really need to add more pictures here too, I'm just not sure what though. I don't really draw as much as I used to.

The reason you don't draw as much as you used to may very well be partly that you're not sure what to draw. contests are good for that, art exchanges such as we had on Storm-artists.net, what I love about art sites is they can help me try new things and get active artistically, if I let them. for example, I came here, saw that Rainbow-dash-rockz had an OC with a big tail, and I let that inspire me to action. I found my old lizard Guy, posted both pictures of him, and drew a few new ones, 
I challenge you to look around Fanart Central right now, find something that inspires you in some way, take that inspiration, make a quick sketch- doodle- cheese wax sculpture- fanfic- poem or whatever, and post it even if you aren't impressed with your work. do it now. the journey begins with a single step, art began with a simple visual representation of whatever enters you mind. 

I have been writing a lot more recently than I have been drawing, but I'll see what I can do. One thing that I really love is a show called Fringe, and I would love to try to get some fanart for that show up. I like drawing portraits the most, so I may start there. I haven't heard of a cheese wax sculpture though. That sounds interesting o.o

they had been planning for a long time to update to this new beta version, I see it is dated jan 2013, so three years ago... they got the beta running but no progress was made on it after maybe a month or so. I'm not sure why they never went forward with it. Maybe they will some day and storm will return in a new form. 

I believe Storm-Artists will come back too. 

Storm is shutting down? Why? I just joined... :( And it seemed like such a cool place and people still cared about the forums and stuff... Oh dear. -.-
Maybe we can work on bringing a little life back into the forums here? Or try, anyway?

Perhaps some new topics on forum would do the trick.
