Hey everyone, as I mentioned earlier, I've been going through some personal things.  I'm back, sort of, although I am still extremely busy.

Anyway, I've been working at a different job since I last posted.  It's much better, less stressful.  My husband and I have moved into our own house, and I am enjoying my garden, BBQing and entertaining...

I'm thinking I may once again become a little more active in the winter with submissions, or at least checking out everyone's galleries to see how they've evolved since I left!

Liedetector16kool you're from Canada?! My grandmother is french canadian. I've only been to Canada once to see Niagara Falls, and I was too young to remember that anyway. I imagine that would be quite a jump. I've never heard of ketchup flavored chips... sounds interesting, especially if you really like ketchup. ^ ^

AriaGunnirLOL Aaaaah... Ketchup Chips! Yummy! They are a bit sweet and tomato flavoured, sort of a dry version of fries and ketchup I guess!  Check this out to get an idea of stuff only found in Canada! LOL" http://www.canadaonly.ca/  Yummy Nanaimo Bars; Yummy Mackintosh Toffee;  Twizzlers; Dad's Cookies; oh boy did I miss em when I was in Florida!

Liedetector16Wow! One of these days I'm gonna go see Canada. That or France or England. Course, it'd also be nice to go west. I've been all along the eastern coast, but never out there. I'd like to see the Grand Canyon.

AriaGunnirWell, I like your work, so I faved it!  I used to use colouring pencils/pencil crayons as well.  I liked how the led in them was soft enough to push other colours of led into, and it almost seemed a little fluid, nearly like paint.  Thanks for visiting my gallery!  I will see you in the Forums!

AriaGunnirThat's okay... Take your time! If you like, may I suggest next time if you want to experiment with colouring techniques, I have found a sneaky way to avoid mistakes on a good copy of my pencil drawings...  What I do is photocopy or scan the black and white pencil drawing a few times and then colour or shade in with different pencils/markers/paints.  Then which ever one I want to use I pick - and either apply it to the original drawing, or if it's good quality I can use the coloured photocopy for the final scan...  Maybe you could try, too!

AriaGunnirSounds good: and I don't mind how long it takes.  I am a patient gal.  Good things come to those who wait....

TheTangoMaureenYou have a nice style, I can tell you work hard on your art.

AriaGunnir on January 22, 2007, 11:18:06 AM

AriaGunnir on
AriaGunnirThanks...  I think a bit too hard... I am going to start drawing smaller so I can fit the pics onto my scanner.  THAT should whittle off 1-3 hours of fidgeting with the scanner, and then editing everything together.  *phew*

TheTangoMaureen on January 23, 2007, 6:06:20 AM

TheTangoMaureen on
TheTangoMaureenI always draw WAY too small. Also I have to work on not putting my eyes too far apart.

Papercut_DragonJust a general comment on your gallery: I love the fluidity that I see in your pictures - it's rare to see a picture that can convey motion (without motion lines) with a still subject. You also have a very good handle on your media of choice. You know how to use color, and how colors interact with each other to make other come forward or recede.

(Haha - I just noticed that I'm on your favorite artist list. =^_^= Thanks!)

Bottom line is: Great gallery!

AriaGunnirWell, thank you very much, I appreciate the compliments and helpful critique you did for me on my CITRUS 'toon. Oh and I forgot to tell you, as you did ask me, about those markers I use... I think they might be similar to the markers you use. There is a little store in my city, but there is a bigger store in another province: here is the link to their website and it also has a good picture of what they are like. And of course you can probably order/get them elsewhere, but I love this store here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada that has them.

Papercut_DragonHaha, those DO look like Prismas. And they're as about as expensive. ^^;

I think I found 'em cheaper, here:
http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/online/680&Cat_Level=3

But shipping to Canada might negate any cheapness there.

AriaGunnirHmmm... I am sure I have heard of those here, though.  I will look and see how much they are at that art store I frequent.  Thanks for the info!

Papercut_DragonWoah, lol I meant from Canada. O_o Shipping from Canada into the states. And, isn't your dollar worth more than ours anyway . . . ?

AriaGunnir on January 27, 2007, 3:36:47 AM

AriaGunnir on
AriaGunnirI understood what you meant: I have ordered things from the US before and sometimes you get a surprise charge for going through customs or some other surprise...  We had one package that they tore apart and then taped back up and it was delayed for a while...  It was a stormtrooper outfit! LOL  I think our dollar is about the same right now, but I am sure we have some of those markers already distributed in various art stores, I just never look for them.  I think they have 2 nibs, whereas the ones I use have a fine nib that fits over a medium sized nib on one end and then a very thick nib on the opposite end...  I really like my 3-in-1s...

AriaGunnirLOL  I do try to actually explain why I like a picture....  Sure your stuff is "cool!"  But I try not to use the same adjective over and over on all the different galleries, there are so many other words capable of describing skillful and talented, well-composed drawings.  Thanks for visiting my gallery, too, and the nice compliment.  I plan to visit you again soon!
