Nope, none of that. I do a lot of stretching on my own, though, and work training into everyday life. Balance especially. You can do calf raises to aid your agility just about anywhere.

Well, not an official list, I guess. Just a mental note to try certain things.

It's worth trying if you haven't. Next on my list is Shogi. Can't find a board or I would have played it by now.

It's kinda hard to explain. Picture a checker board. Instead of playing on sqaures, you play on where the squares intersect. You use black or white stones and try to surround your opponent's stones and capture territory.

I used to play; haven't in a long time. I got into Go for a while, that was pretty fun.

serious what type of martial art

There's the Bil sao, Fuk sao, ton sao, pok sao, etc. There's all simple moves. For a pok, for example, open your hand, then slap at the air, shifting your weight. So you're moving your body more than your arm. This is when someone's punching straight at you, and you're deflecting their fist, and using their force against them. If they're fighting with a Karate-style especially, this works very well because it ruins their balance.

Ton sao- hold your hand out, open again. (Using your right hand). Now, turn your wrist to the right, so you end up with your palm up, like you're carrying a tray. This is a move for when you don't have time for a big exaggerated block. It's also easy to grab from, and follow up with an arm bar.

The others are really hard to explain, not really possible over the internet. But those two are huge helps in sparring matches. They tend to annoy the hell out of your opponents if they don't know what you're doing.

I don't have a picture of it. Best thing I can say is put one hand up by your chin, then one out in front of you. Now turn until you see your shoulder and head in the mirror (if you have one)

Actually, it plays even better to smaller guys. Lee also combined some speed in there. The guard is also a very hard one to penetrate, because instead of squaring up with an enemy, your shoulder is lined up with them.

It might have been Dim Mak, or an art based off of it, now that you mention it.

Jeet Kun Do is Bruce Lee's art (Aside from his ridiculous, exaggerated yells, if you watch Lee's movies, you see some good technique- his earlier stuff especially), which he derived from Wing Chun. It encompasses hands, feet, and body. Basically, if Lee weighed 130 lbs, when he punched or kicked, the way he moved, his strike was 130 lbs. That's the theory behind it.

There are three different parts, really. First is the power- Karate, and it's Korean counterpart, TKD, for that matter, both tend to focus on power and technique, and are less fluid (This may not apply to ALL styles of Karate and TKD, to be fair). There's the balance aspect- when you punch or kick, you aren't really in motion, you're set firmly, because your strike is powerful and technical, so you're likely to hit the mark.
Finally, the style of the kicks themselves. They're designed as high and powerful. If I'm remebering right, it was derived from Japanese influence, in which high kicks were used to knock samurai from their horses. So high and powerful, sometimes jumping.

To be honest, if you want a truly reliable, practical art, Jeet Kun Do, Thai Boxing, or...damn. Can't remember the name of the last one, it translates to something similar to Neji's 8 Triagrams 64 palms- pressure point attacks that you don't have to put power behind, and it doesn't leave a mark. I'll have to look it up. I know it's a very secretive art, and you'd be hardpressed to find a dojo that is dedicated to this art outside of Japan. I'll have to find the name.

It's somewhat uncommon to ahve different arts face each other. Mostly, it would be, say Isshin Ryu Karate vs Kyokushin Karate. They don't usually intermingle arts. As for tournaments, I'm not sure. My school's tournament team is a joke, and the sensei and I had an argument, so I basically said 'see ya' and dropped it. But I'm going to go back to tournaments; just not representing a school.

I'm good. I just finished this history essay on Friday that was due today, so I handed it in. I was glad, that way I didn't have to worry about the essay over the long weekend. XD I was camping all weekend with Kitsune_727 and her family, so I had a lot of fun! Especially with the rabbits! Man, it was so funny when the black one tackled the white baby bunny into the fence to prevent it from getting attacted from one of the bigger brown ones. Did you know that rabbits fight over dandylions if you give them some? Because they do! They pretty much play tog of war with it in their mouths till one gets it, or till it snaps in half. lol Rabbits are so cool! XD

Glad my answer helpful. If I needed to make it simpler, I would say this: Protect to validate my purpose. Maybe I hold a small glimmer of hope for humanity. I doubt it, I've really kind of given up on the human race. Helping them is like putting a bandaid on a breaking dam. But, in this case, SOMEONE has to go AGAINST the flow, you know? Everyone else goes with the flow. "oh crap, more shootings", they say. I say "Hell with that, no MORE shootings."

Death is an interesting point of controversy. If someone goes to jail, you and others are in danger when they get out. But, then again, even if they've wronged you, ending their life is a different story. Being afraid of killing would be a non-factor, if it ever came to it with me. I would do what was right, if at all possible. According to Bushido, in essence, you live to die. You must die and be born anew each day. You must be ready to die. Now, I don't follow that to a "T". I say you must be prepared to live, because not everyone can live, but everyone can die. It's all a matter of strength, purpose, meaning, and even things like ethics, morals, and religion.

Interesting ability. I've heard of it, actually. You might try Kurlenian Photography to look along those lines. If I'm thnking correctly, it's typically a healing tool.

Of course. If I saw a terrorist running toward the few people I care about, I would do what I had to do to stop him. But, it's not likely that the people I care about will be faced with a situation like. Most would either handle it themselves, or not be in that place to begin with. If trouble wants to come up and kiss me on the lips, well, I'd react as I had to.

My goals and dreams...they're foolish in this day and age. But, when I tweak the goals realistically, they don't sound so unattainable.

Relationships worth keeping are few and far between. Very few last with people like me. Loners, I suppose, by definition, keep a small group of friends, by choice or by actions.

Never assume that you've got a complete hold. The mind is complex. I'm not saying you CAN'T, I'm only saying don't drop your guard. Some people may see through that mask. No matter who we are, the side we present from person to person differs. Of course, through that, we also create another mask, another persona, one with two faces. But, sooner or later, someone may crack that mask. Keep yourself prepared, in case it happens.

Yeah, I know, it's real masculine, the gardening thing. But, it should be a great training area, too. I'm hoping, anyway.

Moral difference is a tough one. Put it this way: If there's a scenario where a gunman is shooting people in the mall, and the proablity of others being hurt was high, I would fight the gunman. I would use whatever weapon I could, and I would stop him by whatever means necessary. I think, if you've taken away a man's weapons (arms and legs included), then you're okay, if you're protecting yourself or others. There are scenarios where any noble person would kill, I suppose. If I saw a terrorist with a bomb strapped to his chest, or someone with a remote detonator/gun/etc, I would kill if I needed to (I'd hope more people would). But ONLY as a last resort, if breaking an arm or leg wouldn't help. But only to save the lives of others. I dislike killing, I would hate myself for it. But I would rather look back and say "I saved those people" than wonder, years later, if I could have made a difference. My conscience and morals are strong, and they dictate that life isn't something you should take, unless you can give it back. Obviously, there ARE situations where that gets bent or broken, but there's no was around it.

Why do I protect people? Because we all need a purpose, I guess. Truth be told, I have one dream for my career, one dream for my life, and one hope for my life. I protect people simply because they NEED protection. From others, from themselves. It doesn't matter to me. As long as I'm protecting a life. I have very few people I hold dear to me. Once all of them are gone, my reason for existing would be terminated. But, if I thought I was doing the world good, my existence would be vindicated. (Hope that makes sense)

Somehow, I don't doubt that you'll hit, then surpass, your dream. Mine is not so straightforward. Pardon me if I don't say it, at least not yet.

A1's done a lot of good. For me, he's someone my age who I can discuss theories and philosophy, not only of martial arts but of life with. We're polar opposites, which is why I can learn a lot from him.

Really now? What an interesting turn of events. (chuckles) Good for you! My enemies usually stay my enemies. As for my Master's name...yeah, that was a mistake. I didn't really care at that point. With all the craziness of those certain couple monthes, I began to care. And now that I'm getting more miserable and subdued, the loner lifestyle suits me even more, so I do what I can to protect that.
A LOT of areas have snow. I DID think about that when I typed it, lol. But, if you know, all the better. But, if your enemies become your ally, (pardon this, nothing against him/her) I'd still watch yourself. You never know who to trust. Take that from my own personal experience. That's why it's interesting. I care for almost no one, but I would rather die protecting someone I don't know, or even hate, than live with a smudge on my conscience. Very interesting, quite the quandry.

As for A1, I'm not sure. His attendance hasn't been as frequent as before.

Yeah, the tree is holding up. I've used it for bo practice, stick and dagger practice, and empty hand, and, more recently, throwing needles. (Not senbon, but one-tipped, thicker, heavier cousins of senbon).
Oh, my parents question me, but they're cool with it. Dad does martial arts, and Mom kinda like the idea of a garden, as long as I don't go overboard. I'm no gardener, so she doesn't have to worry. I'm just talking a cherry tree here, a Japansese Maple there, some vines, rocks, a koi pond, a regular pond (Some at my Dad's suggestion, lol. If Mom objected, she'd be outvoted anyway, lol) Mostly, it's just planning and research now, I can't dig just yet, the ground is too muddy. Otherwise, I'd be half-done, lol. So I've had to channel my energy into my basement dojo instead, or extra physical training. I can't study my books if I can't sit still to read them!

Well, a few things changed me. Meeting A1 helped me more with unique training, but sheer hours and number of techniques and arts came before that. One day, Shihan made a couple of cracks about me. I was furious! But instead of just saying something back, I focused on my weapon (sword at the time), and just let my training talk for me. I just decided I would be better than her. (I think she's picked up on that, and can't decide to like me or hate me- I make her teaching look good, but I'm the rebel, lol) And, all the shootings in colleges, and stupid violence...I just decided I'd rather be one of the people who turned in the bad guys, instead of the one who was prey to them. So, to protect myself and others.

That's probably true, you could. There are varibales that I've told no one, though. I used to have a pic of myself on my profile; I changed my look. I changed internet services, and I don't even really answer to my real name. And I hope that, even if someone DOES find me, that I'm competent enough to give them an interesting time of trying to get me ;) I appreciate the concern, definetly. The way I talk- I'm sure most people could figure out my general area, at least. That's the funny thing about people, they're hard to stereotype when you get right down to the individual. The only things I really broadcast are my age (Which is for safety reasons- anyone over 18 should be telling people they are), and how I WISH I looked, never what I REALLY look like, lol. But, out of curiosity, what would you suggest protection-wise? How should I be more careful?

Training is an escape, in a way. I focus on more than physical training. I read the texts of other arts, too. Plus, chakra control. But I need to stress my phsyical training more. I have a high tolerance for pain, which is a great benefit, but I hope it will be uneccessary in combat.
Before I agree to this, you'd have to tell me about any potential risks. It's nothing against you, it's just personal safety.

And, lol, my tree is holding up, but I have to move it. I put it in a bad spot. It's just as well, come spring I'll have my Asian Garden/Training area completed, with lots of trees to practice on.

Also, I don't typically include many people in my training. Only those more advanced or knowledgeable than me. I'm not "Weekend warrior", lol, a lot of people show up, get their belts/ranks, and practice once a week, and come for the 'social hour'. That used to be me, lol.

lol, training is all I do anymore, aside from college. I've got a scar on one hand from punching at a sand-filled punching bag for too long without gloves. But, now it doesn't hurt when I crack someone, lol.

Yeah, pretty much, you're not exactly supposed to be part of two clans.
Sensei won't let me be part of his clan, he says I can still be a shinobi without being part of a clan. He doesn't want me to go through the problems a clan does. I'm kinda disappointed, I really wanted to be in a clan. But at least he's still willing to train me ^^
