You know, it was. It was supposed to be a five chapter thing about a love triangle between Sakura, Naruto and Yuji. It stayed that way for quite some time I guess, lol. But yeah, wow.I've run into a similar dillema before. What I finally decided to do was to take a grain of the original world and make it the basis for my idea. As long as the world is in some way connected to the 'original' idea, I think you're fine. Let your imagination go wild, and then tie that idea to whatever is 'canon' with a simple sentence.
