The "my scanner ate it" type mindset is a pet peeve of mine, because getting a good quality scan from a scanner is less dependent on what kind of scanner it is, and more dependent on knowing where to find and how to adjust the scanner's settings.
As for my scanner? Phsaw... it's just an HP model 4400c scanner that's about... I think it's about 3 years old already and I've used it to scan over 100 drawings. I've had a problem from time to time, sometimes it seems to take forever to warm up, it never remembers the settings I leave it at (its "auto" settings are always too bright), and one time it didn't register that I wanted to scan a drawing in landscape instead of portrait orientation (which ended up cropping about 1/3 off the right side of the image), but overall -- you just have to know where to find the options, what they do, and how to adjust them for best results.
As for the rest... sorry to have sounded harsh in the first comment. Must've been the mood I was in at the time, or something.

It's just a peeve I have, when people say that their scanner is crap or that they don't know how to operate it. Maybe it's because I know exactly how to operate & adjust my scanner? (I've almost never had a "bad" scan) But regardless, getting the best results from your scanner doesn't always depend on what make & model of scanner it is, usually it depends more on how you adjust its settings for optimal exposure, etc.
Now, granted, with the comment I left on your wolf I didn't really discuss the picture itself (I was going to give the same tip Crystalvixon did, about the teeth), but that still doesn't make it a flame.
