Also- question. Is it possible for Neji to use his Trigrams/Palms attack without activating the Byakugan? I'm guessing not, because he'd need to see the chakra network to know where exactly to hit, but it's just a thought.

Hmm...I would actually say it is possible. Neji's practiced so much that he could probably pinpoint where each spot is on any given opponent. You could probably get away with it that way. But normally I'd say no.

Thanks. I was trying to think of a way for him not to notice the layer of chakra-soaked water slowly creeping across her body. You'd be able to see that, easy, with the Byakugan activated.

I'm totally loving the 'insanity' edge you're giving Yuji in the co-op, and I totally agree with Sakura's realization in 'Serving.' "Oh, Yuji..." Poor kid! I just wanna hug him and tell him everything will be all right! xD

It seemed to make sense for Yuji. He's had zero good things happen to him in that fic, so insanity was the next step, since he's not the type to get into drugs. I wanted to have him be a House-like shinobi, addicted to something yet functioning, or to maybe have him do drugs so that someone might actually kill him, since he couldn't do it himself. But that's not Yuji-ish. Pushing yourself until you loose your mind? Yeah, that's Yuji. I like that I can now make him more violent and devious. It's surprisingly fun to write about him that way ^^

I liked your comment on Serving. It's too bad he's so lousy at being selfish when he needs to be.

I know! Maybe Hisako should make a surprise appearance and knock some sense into him. Lol

We're almost into my favorite parts of 'Serving'. I can't wait. I'd add Hisako if I wasn't already so far ahead with the writing -_-' I've got her in the other fic I'm working on, though, plus the next one-shot ^^

How's your fic coming?

I got most of ch 28 done, but I was so tired last night that I had to just give up and turn in. When I get home I'm gonna finish it and post. How bout you?

Thank you! I tried to kind of put myself in her shoes, 'how would i react?' sort of thing, to make it more believable. Other than THAT, I'm having so much fun developing Hisako and Tenzo's relationship little by little. xD

It's cool to piece together a history for two chars^^ The story is as fun as the destination most of the time. That's actually my favorite part, the development.

Yeah, I'm loving it. Half the time I'm not even sure how things are gonna turn out in my fic. I just put the pencil down and write whatever scenario pops into my head, then go back and refine it.

I tend to write based on my mood. That's not always a good thing, though. I re-read stuff and wish I'd taken more time with it. It's good you take time to refine your stuff.

One thing I really like is how you've got the guys and girls both reacting to romance. I'm not very good at that. Usually, I have Yuji emo-ing over his unspoken love, while Sakura is oblivious. Or Azami knows what he's feeling and she reacts to it, but he just kind of goes about his business normally. You've got Sakura and Kakashi playing off each other, Hisako playing off both of them, and Tenzo reacting to Kakashi and Hisako. It's a good web.

I'm really glad you said that, because that's something I kind of worry about when I'm writing. "Am I doing this right?"

Cause I have no idea what goes on in the male mind, I'm just guessing. xD

lol, the male mind is usually stereotyped pretty accurately, unfortunately. Nah, jk, different personalities make it hard to predict. If it's Kakashi, I would say he's probably lonely as hell, horny as hell from reading nothing but porn, and chances are he's read a story or two about young, dependent, high-school age hottie that latches onto her instructor. In the back of his mind (and getting farther back) is the trouble this will cause. My impression is that he really cares for her, and he's holding back more for her sake than his own, because he's so slack when it comes to his own affairs.

I have the same problem with the female mind. I write stuff assuming that they're perfect little angels and are in control of the guy they're with. With Yuji, girls are a pleasant kind of 'different'. Yuji can read people and their intentions, but a girl near his age somehow clouds his judgement, hence the reason Azami gets the drop on him so much.

And for the record, I've got no clue what girls honestly find attractive. Yuji is basically a wild guess, lol. I don't know if it's a major turn on to see a guy in his underwear in the moonlight with a serious expression, or if looking pensieve is really fodder for a romantic tryst XD

Well, there is one big question that bugs me. Let's take Azami, for example. She's good looking, everyone knows it. Let's say that, omg, Sasuke showed up. He's his cocky, miserable emo self, but he's somehow attractive (I don't see it). Then there's Yuji. Self-depreciating, a loner, and lacking confidence. Let's say you are in Azami's head. Which traits are actually attractive? I mean, I know everyone likes to feel some measure of control, but they also want their bf/gf to have some backbone, right?

Likewise, if I can help you with a guy's perspective, let me know. I'll be glad to help ^^

Well, I think the stoicism and the 'cool' aura Sasuke projects is his main drawing factor. I think the few moments where Sasuke shows emotion are when I actually begin to like him, though.

I mean, it's all in the personality of the girl, really. Personally, I'm more drawn to guys like Yuji than guys like Sasuke. Well, guys like Sasuke intimidate the crap out of me, but still. Yuji's caring, and he looks out for the girl. I can't really see Sasuke looking out for anyone but himself. I may be selling him short, but that's my impression.

And I lol'd at the fact that you used 'bf/gf'. Oh my gosh. xD

I can understand that. Sasuke probably cares in his own way. Arrogance is something I can't stand, hence the reason I really hate Neji at first.

That makes sense, too. I can't quite phrase the question I'd like to ask, because it's such a broad concept. I get there are certain factors that attract two certain people.
Blah. I really need to think about how to word my questions better. Oh, I know! For some reason, I have this belief that girls can kind of pick out when a guy has a crush on them. So when said guy approaches said girl and finally asks her out, what is a realistic way for him to do so. Aside from Yuji being gravely injured, or waking up from some insanely nice fantasy, I've never had him ask anyone out. Every time I try to write it seriously it seems asinine and unbelievable. Any idea on how I would fix that. What would your average girl react positively to?

And double blah. I REALLY wrote that wrong -_-' lol. I have no idea why I did that. Really no clue at all. Yes, clueless sums it up nicely XD

Well, you're giving girls too much credit. I mean, we're not omniscient, as much as we'd like to be. xD My personal experience with guys asking me out... Gosh. Awkward. Well, I knew he liked me because sometimes I'd catch him looking at me during class, and he'd look away really quickly when our eyes would meet. This went on for a long time before he finally did anything about it. We were hanging out with a bunch of friends in the band room after school, and he's like, "Hey, can I talk to you out in the hallway for a minute?" I just knew he was gonna ask me out because of how embarrassed he sounded. We went down the hallway, way away from the band room. he was like, "do you think... that it would ever work out... between us?"

So. Awkward.

So that leaves the inverse to be true. If girls are not omniscient, then guys can be transparent. That might just be my view. One friend of mine finally gave me a hit on the head with his fist and said "Will you go talk to her? You've gotta stop thinking like she's some unreachable goddess!"

For the record, that IS how most decent guys think. You always get the alpha male types who want to show off and act like idiots and talk about sex nonstop, but the type of guy you described is definitely intimidated.

If you stick to tradition, it's up to the guy to make the first move (which has to be frustrating for both sides. Thank God for the new age where anyone can do anything!), and generally orchestrate a date while basically guessing (from a guy's POV, you understand) at what the girl really wants. I can promise you, guys really DO agonize over stuff like 'should I get the car door for her? Am I supposed to kiss her? Does she kiss me?'

Chivalry is always appreciated. Like, if a guy got the car door for me, or opened doors for me, and stuff... That'd be so freaking cute. xD

And trust me, the girl's guessing just as much as the guy, unless she's been around the block a bit. For me, I'd be so totally clueless. I haven't even been on a real date yet.

Worst part is though, he was so confidence-lacking about it. I mean, if he wasn't so embarrassed about being found out if he was turned down, I might actually have said yes. Well, no, I liked somebody else at the time. xD

A good way to ask someone out?

Well, it would be a good idea to start as friends first. Be like, "Hey, do you want to go do ---- together sometime?" Or be like, "you're pretty cool, do you want to hang out some time?"

Personally, even if that's not the way you approached it, I'd be good with a confident, "hey can I talk to you for a sec?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"They're showing --- in theaters this weekend and I was wondering if you'd like to go with me."

I can actually see Yuji doing something like this, but he'd have to suck up the courage first. The key is to play it cool. A guy who's not sure of himself is kind of a turnoff. Unless it's Yuji. Then it's just cute.

I like chivalry, myself. It leaves at least one stable element to a date. I exaggerate with Yuji, but in real life I definitely prefer it when whoever I'm talking to (guy or girl, really, but let's stick with girl to avoid abother bf/gf thing, now that we're talking about me. I might be single, but I know to which gender I'm inclined to be attracted to. Female, for the record.) to take some kind of control. Like "No, I don't like Chinese food, to be honest. How about pizza?" That way, I learn something about her. If there are answers offered, I'll pick up on them. (Eventually. Maybe. If I'm not too intimidated to notice. XD)

My problem with confidence is kind of...stupid. I can't decipher between 'confident' and 'cocky' sometimes, if it's me talking. So in real life, I'll keep to myself and observe because I'm genuinely unsure as to how I come off to other people.

The approach you mentioned is perfect for Yuji. I think the next one-shot I do will be a realistic romance fic. How realistic is it, I wonder, for Tsunade to set Sakura up with Yuji when she sees how infatuated he is with her (and how lonely they both are)? Well, either way, next time around, I'll aim for something realistic.

That's a good question, and hard to answer. I think it depends on how she's talking to him. Me, personally... I have lots of guy friends that I talk to, but only a few I'm interested in. Give me a more specific scenario and I may be able to help you out. Lol.

The only thing I found hard about the fic was that the FAC rules don't allow you to go into detail about anatomy. So I had to say stuff like 'She had a great figure' and 'she guided him toward more interesting parts of her body', instead of what would really make more sense. I don't want to make it too smutty or anything, but it sucks having to hold back. I do like my fics to keep a sort of innocence to them.

She writes this kind of sci-fi/horror. The main character is a girl who works for this 'church'. The plot is hard to explain, especially since I'm new to it myself. But the gist is that Chess (an abbrevation of the heroine's name) has to remove ghosts, which are commonplace in this version of the world. While she's doing that, she's caught in the middle of a drug war, as her boyfriend/dealer is on one side, and her best friend is on the other. It's very interesting. The drugs have kind of a different effect in the story. They're less 'bad' somehow. It doesn't glorify using them. It's complicated, but interesting.

I'm just about to put up a new chapter in the 'Naruto Couples' thing. Want to be the first to read it and tell me if it's appropriate for the site? jk, it's not THAT steamy. At least, I don't think so.

I'm really excited about both those fics, too. I'm two chapters ahead on the co-op fic. As soon as Andr28a updates, I can, too. I'm also a few ahead in serving, but my schoolwork is piling up, so I can't just upload them all, in case I have no time to write. So it'll keep getting updated regularly ^^

I'm in the middle of 'Unholy Magic' right now. The first book in the series is called 'Unholy Ghosts'. It's categorized as 'Urban fantasy/ Horror' which is a little misleading imho. It's a good story, with some romance elements and whatnot.

I freely admit to reading some Shoujo stuff. Jigoku Shoujo (aka Hell Girl), Vampire Knight, and I've browsed a couple others. I'm a sucker for romance, too. It's probably weird for a guy to say that, but whatever. I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't admit to reading the stuff. Most manga fans do read Shoujo stuff. At least, all the ones I've talked to.

I think I figured out why I like Stacia Kane so much. From her website, she lists things you often see in her work. quoting from http://www.staciakane.net/meet-stacia/ :

1. Third person. I’m not a fan of first person and don’t write in it. My romances are, of course, written from third omniscient, but my urban fantasy is strictly from the heroine’s POV (= Point of View).

2. Absent Families. Either they’re dead or they’re just a bunch of jerks, but not one heroine I’ve ever written has had a warm family relationship. Fathers often sell their kids out. Mothers are cruel and distant.

5. Smoking. Yeah, I know. Not everyone smokes, but enough people do that it’s safe to say if you pick up one of my books chances are somebody, some time, is going to smoke a cigarette.

6. Smooth dialogue, everybody is smart. Nobody is stupid (at least nobody we’re supposed to like), not even the characters who never had an education. They may not know algebra but they have agile minds, and their dialogue tends to be quick and clean. At least I try to make it so; dialogue is a big issue for me.

7. Manners/the man pays. Oh, yes. My characters use each others’ last names regularly and often wait to be invited to use firsts. My men open doors, believe in “ladies first”, prepare drinks, and always pay for meals (unless the heroine specifically does the inviting.) They get a little anal about it, too, sometimes. Even my poor uneducated men know how to treat a lady, and that’s how they see them, too—as ladies.

9. Heroes are dark/heroines are slim. Both personally and physically. I’m another one who just doesn’t find blond men terribly appealing as a rule, so my heroes have dark hair and dark eyes. Most of them have Deep Secrets too, or if they don’t they’re just plain criminals. Also, my heroines tend not to be curvy. They’re slim, small-breasted, probably not particularly tall, and average pretty.

10. Violence/stuff explodes/car chases/infernos. Oh how I love action. People in my books are always running, away from the crazy guy with the knife or the evil spirit they don’t yet know how to defeat. They’re in the car breaking laws as bad guys shoot at them or hordes or vampires chase them. Fire is everywhere. Houses catch fire, warehouses, corpses, heroes are fire demons who can burn stuff to a crisp just by thinking of it—now that I’m thinking of it, if something isn’t burning yet in one of my books it’s probably at least been foreshadowed. Just give it time. Everything burns.

The exception to the rules we have in common:

8. Everybody has great sex. Like I said, my heroes believe in ladies first

Poor Yuji. Poor, poor, Yuji. And poor Azami, too. lmao. If they could talk, I bet they'd tell you that they wish they were born from the mind of someone who actually believes relationships CAN happne in his work!

I like third person, too. You do use first person a lot though, which is refreshing to see. And lol on #8.

You should give Yuji and Azami a break! Poor kids. xD I'm about halfway through your update, i had to go do dishes and take out the trash.

I don't know why a lot of people don't like first person. I guess it's supposed to be a 'shortcut' way to write, or a way to put yourself in a fic, but it can be a great storytelling tool.

I really should. lol. I pity them. Even if they get what they want, I make them go through hell.

I can't wait for your next update. Both of the fics you've got going now are a blast. I like the fact that you have a female lead. Those tend to be rare. Especially done well, which is certainly the very definition of what you're doing with Hisako :)

Well, thank you! That means a lot to me. And I had intended Sakura to be the female lead, but I guess that didn't happen. They're co-leads, I guess. I have chapter 27 unfinished, it's what happens with Kakashi and Sakura at the bar after Hisako leaves. I haven't typed it all up yet, but I'm thinking I may get to that after I finish your update. It's really good so far. The belt bit in the beginning made me chuckle.

I'm just waiting on his update. I'm a couple chapters ahead because our OC's are doing their own things. But we've got an interesting direction set for the fic, I think :)

They contrast really well, I think. Ryofu is outwardly powerful and is not loyal to a group, while Yuji is loyal to the Leaf and powerful in a more quite way. Or at least that's how it worked out ^^'

Yeah... I think it would be interesting to see how they'd play off of each other and Hisako. THAT would be interesting. xD

Maybe the three of us should do a co-op fic sometime. I think that would be interesting.

That might be true. Yuji's almost the same, except he seems to want the company.

I like how nothing phases Hisako very much. The way she can kind of go with the flow is really cool.

That's really nice of you. I'm sure Yuji would be thankful. I've got this fic I've started that uses a scrapped beginning for the HisaYamaYuIno fic that I hope will be fun someday. I originally paired him with Azami in that fic, but for someone reason, Ino and Yuji seemed like a cute idea.

Do you ever picture Hisako with anyone besides Yamato?

Well... Initially, I'd wanted Kakashi to have a thing with Hisako, but after I met Yamato I was just sold. Although if I really -had- to pick... No, I just can't see her with anyone else. xD

lol, I was the same way about Yuji and Sakura. But in my case, I can't have Yuji beat really strong canon characters outright; it's seems to god like for him.

Did you ever think of making a male OC? I've had a ton of fun with Azami. It can actually be more fun to write about the opposite sex.
