yea there are actual books 2 to be exact "Devil may cry" and "Devil may cry 2"

and then there are the 2 mangas "devil may cry 3" code dante(book 1) and code vergil (book 2), the third one was never finished because the artist quit the project

there is also an american comic series (idk much about it since i never read it)

um ok ill try and do a mini summary he goes by the name tony in this one town where i believe he was staying in for awhile, he uses that name to cover up his past, he works as a mercanery, um a wierd man comes into town by the name of gilver his face is all bandaged up and he wields a katana and odd stuff begins to happen, ummm he requests from awoman who is a master gun crafter to make him 2 unique pistol (later to be ebony and ivory), devils start to appear in the town and they cry out DANTE towards him, um he hunts them down eventually leading him to the wierd man named gilver, they fight and tony wins but he realises something as gilvers fading away gilver has the same amulet, hair color, and the smae face, its vergil, at the end genzo (i think he is mentioned in the manga) finds him and dante tells him the name tony is retired and that his name is dante now
